20 Killing Eve (2018-2022)
A British Spy Chases An Assassin
Killing Eve is a BBC series that also aired on AMC in the United States. It is now one of the best detective series on Netflix, with Sandra Oh playing a bored M15 intelligence investigator who gets the lead on a dangerous assassin. This gives some meaning to her life as Eve sets out to find and apprehend the assassin, only to find herself falling in love with her target, Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer. At the same time, Villanelle goes from playing games with Eve to falling for her as well.
The series has four seasons, and while not all fans were happy with the Killing Eve ending, the fun was the chase, with the two closing in on each other, and occasionally coming face-to-face, which is where most of the fun happened. The will they or won’t they was almost more important than the idea of stopping an assassin. The series received several awards nominations throughout its run, winning awards for Oh and Comer’s acting at the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards.

The series is a mix of a great detective story (similar to

The series is a mix of a great detective story (similar to Castle), but with a supernatural slant. By the time the final seasons came around, and Detective Chloe Decker learned he was Lucifer, things began to get darker and move more into the supernatural and less into the detective mysteries that the first few seasons mostly focused on. In the realm of urban fantasy, Lucifer remains a great option, and between the mysteries, the demons, and the possible love story, it offers fans all they could want.

There are a lot of true-crime documentary series available on Netflix for mystery fans. However, one of the best shows to take on that approach is actually a spoof of such series as Making a Murderer. The satirical crime mockumentary American Vandal ran for two seasons, with each one covering an investigation into a school incident, such as season 1’s epidemic of crude graffiti or season 2’s bathroom-related prank.
American Vandal was highly praised for its commitment to replicating the tension found in real crime documentaries but still layered in dry humor. The show plays it all with a straight face as the documentary crews explore these childish crimes with utter seriousness and determination. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled American Vandal season 3, but the producers announced their hopes to move the show to elsewhere in the future.

The show is another brilliant offering from Netflix’s international collection of mystery shows. It is a harrowing story, and the miniseries dealt with the dark events in a grounded way which will undoubtedly prove too much for some audiences. However, the building mystery is gripping as more and more pieces come together and the audience as well as the characters desperately hope to see justice served.

The series was generally well-received, with criticisms leveled at some outlandish moments in the plot.
