Calcutta Football League 2024: Fixtures, results, standings & more

East Bengal have won the Calcutta Football League title a record 39 times, the most by any club in history.

The 2024-25 season of Indian football begins on June 25, 2024, with the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2024, which pits defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club against Wari Athletic Club at Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

One of the first football leagues in India to be played is the CFL, which is currently ranked fifth in the pyramid. Since its founding in 1898, two of Kolkata’s biggest teams—Mohun Bagan and East Bengal—have dominated the city’s football league.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal will be depending largely on their reserve squads for the event while the senior sides will be gearing up for the forthcoming AFC Champions League 2 and ACL 2 Qualifiers respectively. The Kolkata Derby is scheduled for July 13, 2024, though the venue remains undisclosed till now.

Both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have made some crucial domestic signings ahead of the season. While Mohun Bagan have brought in Adil Abdullah from Muthoot FA, East Bengal roped in David Lalhansanga, who was one of the key players in Mohammedan Sporting’s I-League 2023-24 and CFL 2023 campaigns.

Stadiums

Calcutta Football League 2024 will be played across several venues in and around Kolkata. However, there will be one exception the Mohun Bagan club ground won’t be available this time since it is under redevelopment process. Mohun Bagan Super Giant have qualified for the AFC Champions League Two and the newly developed club ground will facilitate the senior team for practice before their Asian campaign kicks off.

Calcutta Football League’s (CFL) Premier Division has five further categories that supplement the Premier Division. Durand Cup side, Army Red have been grouped with reigning champions Mohammedan Sporting Club. Kibu Vicuna’s Diamond Harbour FC have also been drawn in the same group.
