10 Things I Hope Happen In Future Hazbin Hotel Seasons After The Big Renewal News

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024 included the exciting news from the Prime Video’s Adult Animation Creators panel that Hazbin Hotel will be getting at least four seasons. Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano appeared on the panel along with Invincible‘s Robert Kirkman and The Legend of Vox Machina‘s Travis Willingham to discuss what is in store for all their shows and adapting beloved source material into hit animated series. Hazbin Hotel debuted on Amazon Prime in early 2024, delighting fans who had been waiting several years since the Pilot’s release in 2019.

I adore Hazbin Hotel season 1 and was somewhat crestfallen by the feeling that the show was only set up for two seasons, maybe three. The announcement of Hazbin Hotel seasons 3 and 4 prompted me to completely reconsider what I expect from the show. There are questions I want Hazbin Hotel season 2 to answer, yes, but my long-term theories for the show are now completely different (in that I actually have some). With this extended renewal, Medrano and her team can write much longer, slow-burn storylines for everyone’s favorite characters.

10 A Bigger Scale Conflict Between Hell & Heaven

So Far, Only The Hazbin Hotel Has Fought Back Against Heaven

The Hazbin Hotel season 1 finale shows the residents of the titular hotel fighting back against Adam (Alex Brightman) and his legion of exorcist angels. Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) and her crew are victorious when Lucifer (Jeremy Jordan) overpowers Adam and Niffty (Kimiko Gleen) kills him. Heaven launches an attack on Hell every year to cull the number of demons who could rise against them, and so far, Charlie and her friends are the only ones who have fought back. However, the implication now is that others in Hell are realizing this is something they can do.


Medrano’s comments in a Screen Rant interview reveal that some of Hell’s Overlords are considering what they have to gain. The next couple of seasons may show the conflict escalating to a full-scale battle between Hell and Heaven. However, Medrano now has the luxury of delving into different facets of this conflict rather than everyone immediately rallying behind Charlie in season 2. What certain characters want for themselves may not be best for the rest of Hell, Heaven may be concerned with raising a greater army, and all must figure out what to do next when the battle is over.

9 Lots Of New VivziePop Characters

Hazbin Hotel Has Time To Introduce Lots Of New & Complex Characters


Side characters like Carmilla Carmine (Daphne Rubin-Vega) and Zestial (James Monroe Iglehart) are great additions to the first season, but the time spent on them is limited. Hazbin Hotel can now give these supporting characters full arcs, as well as introduce more fun side characters. The VivziePop universe includes personifications of the Seven Deadly Sins; the characters representing Wrath, Sloth, and Envy have yet to be revealed and could join the Hazbin Hotel cast. Medrano may also do a crossover with some of the best characters from Helluva Boss, her YouTube series also set in Hell.

However, to put it frankly, Medrano can introduce a lot of new characters who we will love as much as the already established cast. I’m assuming she has additional ideas in her head for supporting characters who are just as vibrant, quirky, and profound as those we have seen so far. With several more seasons coming, Hazbin Hotel‘s world can grow to include an extensive supporting cast. This might include new hotel residents, new antagonistic (or helpful) angels, new denizens of different parts of Hell, and more.


8 The Hazbin Hotel’s Success Isn’t That Easy

Hazbin Hotel Can Explore What Happens After Charlie Achieves Her Dream

In theory, Charlie’s goal is to get Heaven to recognize the hotel as a legitimate institution, get more Sinners to come to the hotel for redemption, and set up a functioning system where people regularly ascend from Hell to Heaven. Let’s say that she does that, despite the battle with Adam where she and her friends killed a lot of angels and whatever future battles happen. From what we’ve seen of Heaven, it also needs to be reformed. It lets people like Adam do what they want without consequences, meaning that Sinners could relapse once they get into Heaven.

I also think that the point of this show isn’t necessarily physically getting into Heaven but becoming a better person through friendship, no matter the tangible rewards.


Additionally, Hazbin Hotel‘s prelude and Lucifer’s comments suggest that Heaven isn’t that great, with there being a lot of stringent rules in place governing an idea of morality that characters who just got out of Hell aren’t going to like. What I foresee happening in a longer story is that Charlie gets what she wants, only to realize that her plan has some flaws. However, I also think that the point of this show isn’t necessarily physically getting into Heaven but becoming a better person through friendship, no matter the tangible rewards.

7 The Hazbin Hotel Residents Have Their Own Projects

Alastor, Angel, Husk, Sir Pentious & Co. Deserve Their Own Fun Side Storylines


Apropos of expanding the supporting cast, all the fan-favorite characters have a lot more screen time now. The coming seasons will presumably wrap up their more serious storylines: Alastor’s (Amir Talai) bid for power, Angel Dust (Blake Roman) being freed from Valentino (Joel Perez), Sir Pentious (Brightman) and Cherri Bomb’s (Krystina Alabado) potential romance, and so on. However, the show also now has time to do some less consequential things with these characters, which will still further flesh them out and be tons of fun for the audience.

For instance, I am still fixating on the fact that when Alastor arrived to join Charlie’s staff he apparently built a radio booth into the side of the hotel. I really want to see more of Alastor on the air, just antagonizing whoever with his radio show. Meanwhile, Pentious might explore other uses for his steampunk gadgets than supervillain antics. Finally, Angel seems like he does like performing; it’s just working for Valentino that is toxic. Therefore, I am interested to see where he takes his career after getting out of his contract, which I assume will happen eventually.

6 Conflicts Within Heaven (From Lilith & Emily’s Perspectives)

While Charlie Tries To Change Hell, Others May Be Doing The Same In Heaven

Hazbin Hotel understandably spends the bulk of its time in Hell, as this is the show’s main gimmick. I don’t think that should change, but I do think spending one episode set entirely in Heaven could enrich the story. This seems like it would be the one episode of the show everyone dislikes but still serves a specific narrative purpose. The aftermath of Charlie’s day in court isn’t shown, other than Emily (Shoba Narayan) continuing to disagree with Sera (Patina Miller).


With more episodes to go around, Hazbin Hotel can show turmoil in Heaven while Charlie works on the hotel in Hell. Emily may be petitioning to get the angels to accept redeemed Sinners. Additionally, Charlie’s mother Lilith has spent an unknown amount of time in Heaven. She might have just abandoned Hell for a more comfortable life, but it would be much more interesting to see her manipulating the politics of Heaven in a way that benefits her domain.

5 Husk Vs. Alastor

Husk & Alastor’s Rivalry Could End In A Dramatic Fight


Husk (Keith David) was once an Overlord of Hell before he gambled away his soul to Alastor. Therefore, I’m assuming this means that Husk is actually one of the more powerful characters in Hazbin Hotel who has just been limited in what power he can use. If Husk were freed from Alastor’s hold over him, he might just turn on Alastor immediately. Season 1 shows that Husk and Alastor have a pernicious dynamic that could end in a fight if Husk were capable of fighting.

The fight between Alastor and Adam was great, meaning that one between him and Husk could be equally dramatic and well-animated. This would provide Hazbin Hotel with the opportunity to showcase a completely different side of Husk, who is pretty much just the grumpy bartender in season 1. Finally, the implications of two members of the hotel staff turning on each other are deep; this could give rise to more nuances in the narrative and leave Charlie scrambling in the aftermath.

4 The Vees’ Backstory Spread Out Over Multiple Seasons

Hazbin Hotel Can Take Its Time With A Storyline For Each Of The Vees


When speaking with Screen Rant, Medrano also confirmed that the Vees — Valentino, Vox (Christian Borle), and Velvette (Lilli Cooper) — will play a larger role in season 2. However, I don’t think they should do it all at once. Season 2 seems to be headed in the direction of revealing Alastor’s history with the Vees, specifically his rivalry with Vox. This might take up one episode in season 2; additional episodes in seasons 3 and 4 could spend more time on the other members of the trio.

Hazbin Hotel should definitely show the Vees’ rise to power and the specifics of their dynamics. Velvette calls herself the “backbone of the Vees,” possibly feeling like she does most of the work while Vox is obsessed with Alastor and Val with Angel. Vox has some kind of hypnosis ability which isn’t completely explained; he and Val also have an on-and-off relationship. There is also the obvious origin story of how they all met and decided to work as a team, shedding light on their present-day motivations.


3 Flashback Episode With Lucifer, Lilith, Adam, & Eve

A Chance To Highlight Hazbin Hotel’s Versions Of These Characters

Jordan is fantastic as Lucifer and Brightman as Adam; their scene together is hilarious when Lucifer mocks Adam while they are fighting. Their banter is characteristic of a long-standing rivalry, while other comments throughout the show reveal that they have been forced to occasionally meet for work. Meanwhile, Lilith has not yet been cast for Hazbin Hotel, but I am looking forward to seeing the performance who plays her. The final character involved in this feud, Adam’s wife Eve, is referenced but never seen in season 1.


I think it would be tons of fun to take all the talented actors here and let them have their own flashback episode. Lucifer will likely continue to have guest appearances while Adam’s fate is still up in the air, but a brief arc solely focused on the interactions between these characters would be a great one-off experience. It doesn’t even have to be the story Charlie recounts in the intro of Lucifer and Lilith’s backstory; any point during the thousands of years when they were all running Hell and Heaven is rife with potential.

2 A Really Long Redemption Arc For Alastor

Alastor Is Hardly A Hero But Not Quite A Villain — He Has Time To Go Back And Forth


Now that they have several seasons to do it, I want to see a perfect slow-burn arc for Alastor — along the lines of Zuko’s masterpiece character arc. Alastor has some amicable moments with the rest of the staff and residents, mostly Niffty. However, his scheming outside Charlie’s line of sight is pretty diabolical, and he only got involved with the hotel in the first place for personal gain. Alastor is trying to escape his own bargain, is possibly involved with Lilith, and may want to overthrow Lucifer.

These plot elements frame Alastor as a villain, even though Charlie depends on him; yet Alastor’s redemption has already been hinted at. He can go back and forth between being an ally and enemy in Charlie’s story: another season of planning, more subtle hints that he cares about the hotel, betraying them all for the sake of more power, returning to the hotel later, etc. Hazbin Hotel has plenty of time to create a long, satisfying arc for the Radio Demon that lives up to his theatrics in season 1.


1 Charlie & Vaggie Get Married (& Have A Family)

The Evolution Of Charlie & Vaggie’s Relationship Can Be Shown With The Main Story

Charlie and Vaggie’s (Stephanie Beatriz) relationship in season 1 is dominated by the running of the hotel. It showcases how what they believe they are to their partner is affected by what they must do for the sake of Charlie’s dream. That being said, there aren’t a lot of moments spent on Charlie and Vaggie just being a couple; two people who have chosen to spend their lives together because of who they are separate from the hotel.

Charlie may become the Queen of Hell; Vaggie would doubtlessly continue to support her in this position.


Charlie and Vaggie deserve to have some scenes like a date night in season 2 that show what their relationship looks like away from their jobs. Their relationship will also be affected by other external factors in years to come. Charlie may become the Queen of Hell; Vaggie would doubtlessly continue to support her in this position. They’ve never talked about getting married or having kids, but these things could also happen in future seasons. There is a world of possibilities for Hazbin Hotel now that the show isn’t constrained by a brief runtime.
