Apple iPhones are undeniably some of the best phones in the game thanks to a number of factors, including exceptional photo and video quality and generous storage options. You’ll find that even older iPhone models still offer plenty of excellent features. The latest flagship iPhones generally come with a hefty price tag, but you can find multiple carriers offering discounts of up to $1,200 off models from the iPhone 15 series, which helps make it that much more affordable to upgrade.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

Of course, if you choose a previously released model you’ll be able to score even more savings. Many older models still offer high-quality performance, and they cost much less when compared to the price of Apple’s most recent releases. Some carriers are even including extra discounts on items such as subscriptions or bonus devices like the Apple Watch. Adam Oram has been helping shoppers save money by finding and highlighting the best deals from all across the web for years, and has gathered the latest device deals on numerous models by researching current deals happening at major retailers and carriers so that you can compare and choose the best iPhone deal for your current situation.

What is the best iPhone deal right now?

If you’re wondering what the top iPhone deal is right now, the truth is that it’s largely subjective depending on your needs. However, if you are looking for the top deal on the latest flagship, you’ll find that Walmart is offering up to $1,200 in savings on the Pro and Pro Max carrier models when you trade in an eligible device. Just keep in mind that you will have to buy on a qualifying installment plan through either AT&T or Verizon and trade in an eligible device to get the savings. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Walmart’s list prices of the iPhone 15 models are $50 higher than Apple’s. Even so, this is a standout deal if you qualify.

But we have found a variety of deals on different models and configurations, with offers ranging from the budget-friendly iPhone SE to the powerful iPhone 15 Pro Max, so you’ll find plenty of deals to choose from to fit most needs and budgets. We’ve gathered the best iPhone deals across multiple generations to help you save big bucks on your next upgrade. Be sure to check back often, because we’ll keep this post updated with the latest offers. Keep in mind, some of these deals might require you to trade in your existing phone or add a new line to your plan.

Best iPhone deals

Below you’ll find the best deals on the iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE 2022, grouped by generation.

iPhone 15 deals

We first learned about the iPhone 15 at the Wonderlust event in the fall of 2023, with the new flagship from Apple hitting shelves on Sept. 22 of that year. It’s been close to a year now since its release, and you can find quite a few ways to get your hands on one for less right now.

Buying your iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro directly from Apple can score you a deal. Various financing options are available, including up to $620 off unlocked models with a qualifying trade-in.

Of course, if you don’t mind signing up with a carrier deal via Apple, you can save as much as $830 when you trade in your old phone right now.

AT&T is offering up to $700 off the iPhone 15, and if you’re hoping for the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, you can get up to $1,000 off. You’ll need a qualifying trade-in and an eligible unlimited plan to get the discount. If it’s the iPhone 15 Plus you’re after, you can get up to $700 off with trade-in, and then pay $6.39 per month.

AT&T offers bill credit trade-in on phones valued as little as $35, with phones valued between $35 and $129 netting you $350 in savings, so it’s worth bringing in that older phone you never upgraded.

Right now at Verizon, if you purchase an iPhone 15 and add a new line with the Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plan, you will get a promotional credit of $830, which essentially nets you the phone for free without the need to trade in an old phone. The promotional credit is applied to the account as bill credits over 36 months.

You can also trade in a phone to get up to $830 in promo credits, which gets you the iPhone 15 for free. You’ll need the Unlimited Ultimate plan to get this price, but it’s an option for upgraders who aren’t adding a new line. In a similar deal, you can get up to $750 off the iPhone 15 Plus with a new line or up to $830 off with a trade-in.

If you want the iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, you can get $820 or 840 off with a new line, respectively.

When you buy a new Apple 5G phone, you can get NFL Sunday Ticket for free when you open a new line with Verizon.

T-Mobile is offering quite a few ways to save on the iPhone 15 series at the moment. You can score up to $830 off with the Go5G Plus or Go5G Next plan for qualified buyers. If not, you can get up to $300 with certain trade-ins.

You can also buy a new phone at full price and get $700 off another iPhone 15 series phone when you get a new line.

Walmart’s carrier offers are among the best deals right now. Snag a trade-in discount through Walmart, with as much as $1,200 off the Pro and Pro Max models. You’ll have to buy on a qualifying installment plan through either AT&T or Verizon and trade in an eligible device to get the savings.

Before you buy, keep in mind that Walmart’s list prices of the iPhone 15 models are $50 higher than Apple’s.

Best Buy doesn’t currently carry unlocked versions of any of the iPhone 15 series, but it does have carrier models for AT&T and Verizon. For those interested in an AT&T plan, you can purchase the iPhone 15 Pro or the iPhone 15 Pro Max and get up to $1,000 in trade-in credit. This maximum amount is for those trading in a newer-model iPhone with a value of $290 or more. If you have an older iPhone with a value of at least $130, you can still get up to $700 in bill credits with a trade-in. Those who purchase an iPhone 15 and connect it to AT&T can save up to $60 on a new pair of Apple AirPods Pro 2.

Verizon is offering up to $830 in trade-in credit on an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro Max with an installment plan or full-price purchase on the Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plans. Those on the Unlimited Welcome plan can get up to $415.

And finally, Best Buy has its own trade-in offer of up to $1,000 trade-in credit, with the higher-end model iPhones garnering the most. Best Buy trade-in allows you to trade in other brands, too, like Samsung.

If you’re interested in the iPhone 15, Target is offering up to $700 back in trade-in credit when purchased with a qualifying AT&T installment plan. Those looking for the iPhone 15 Plus, Pro or Pro Max can get up to $1,000 in trade-in credit when purchased on a qualifying AT&T installment plan.

If you’re looking to upgrade, you can get a straight $50 off, or get $250 off if you switch to AT&T and purchase the phone at Target. Plus, right now Target Circle members can get two months of free Apple Music with their purchase.

Be advised most of these offers are for in-store purchases only and there are no unlocked models. Stock is out or low at multiple locations.

Spectrum doesn’t have a huge discount on the base price of the iPhone 15 models, when you trade in any qualifying phone you will get an automatic $100 promotional discount.

The phone you trade in needs to have a value greater than $1, so the odds are whatever phone you’re using will get you something. Plus, you may get additional trade-in credit.

iPhone 14 deals

The iPhone 14 series is still a popular line of phones and comprises the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and top-spec iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple discontinued the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max in September of last year, though, so these phones in new condition are few and far between. Thanks to the iPhone 15 series being readily available, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are seeing some discounts to help reduce the sticker shock.

James Martin/CNET

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are available to buy directly from Apple, with delivery and in-store pickup options available. You can trade in your old device for up to $620 off your new one and use an Apple Card to get 3% back on your purchase.

If you’re interested in a carrier model from AT&T, you can get up to $334 in bill credits on either phone. T-Mobile customers can get up to $729 in trade-in credit.

T-Mobile currently carries the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, and you can grab a phone for free if you qualify for one of these offers. You can save up to $830 when you add or switch to T-Mobile on the Go5G Plus or Go5G Next and have a qualifying phone to trade in. You can also get up to $730 with a new line and trade-in. If you add a line, you can buy one iPhone 14 or 14 Plus and get the second one for up to $700 off with a qualifying plan.

AT&T is currently offering a new iPhone 14 for just $10 per month when purchased online. No such discount is currently being offered for the iPhone 14 Plus.

You can potentially save up to $334 in trade-in credit, and right now, you can also get $100 off on Ray-Ban Meta glasses with an eligible plan. AT&T is also offering a discount of 20% off on Beats Fit Pro with an eligible purchase until Sept. 5.

Add a new line on a 5G unlimited plan and you’ll get the iPhone 14 for free. The discount comes in bill credits over 36 months, and there’s no trade-in required. You can get up to $730 off the iPhone 14 Plus, which nets you the 128GB model for free. Like the regular 14, you’ll need to add a new line on a qualifying unlimited plan.

Note that Verizon is only carrying certified refurbished models of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

Spectrum is offering $100 in instant savings on the iPhone 14 if you trade in a qualifying device. The trade-in phone must have a value of $1 or more. Plus, if the final trade-in value exceeds the cost of the new device, the difference will be refunded to your Spectrum Mobile Account.

Note that the only iPhone 14 model Spectrum carries is the 128GB model (no Pro, Plus or Pro Max).

Best Buy is currently offering a direct discount of $150 off unlocked models of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus if you let them help you connect it to a carrier. That puts the iPhone 14 at $580 and the iPhone 14 Plus at $680. Plus you can score up to $365 off through Best Buy’s trade-in program. That could help you save up to $515 on either model. You can also buy a pair of Apple AirPods 2 for $60 off with an eligible iPhone purchase.

Best Buy is not currently carrying the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max.

iPhone 13 deals

The iPhone 13 may not be Apple’s flagship series anymore, but these are still solid phones worth considering. With the new iPhone 15 out now, there are some great iPhone 13 deals to be found.

Patrick Holland/CNET

You can trade in your current iPhone and get as much as $620 off the iPhone 13. If you’re handing over a base iPhone 12, the value is likely to be closer to $300. You can check what an older model will get you on the site. You can also choose to finance your phone and Apple will apply the value as credit, or you can pay the full amount for the phone and Apple will credit your payment method after receiving the old phone. Also, you’ll get 3% back if you pay with an Apple card.

T-Mobile customers adding a new line of service on a qualifying service plan can snag an iPhone 13 for free with either an eligible trade-in or when porting their existing number over from another carrier. Folks only adding a new line can still save 50%, which amounts to $315 via bill credits over 24 months. For a limited time, T-Mobile is also waiving activation fees on eligible purchases.

When you buy the Apple iPhone 13 device and add a new line on the Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plans, you will get $630 in promotional credit, which gets you the iPhone 13 128GB for free.

AT&T is still carrying the iPhone 13 but there are no discounts on offer for the phone itself. You can get a $100 discount when you buy Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses or up to 20% off a pair of Beats Fit Pro with the purchase of this phone.

Trade in your old device and purchase an iPhone 13 and you’ll get a discount of $100 off the regular price. This will be in bill credits if financed or instant if purchased outright.

Although Best Buy is not offering any direct discounts on the unlocked iPhone 13, you can get up to $225 in trade-in credit. You will also get three free months of Apple Music, Apple TV Plus and Apple Fitness, plus four free months of Apple Arcade.

If you choose a carrier model and set it up through Best Buy, the price drops down to $500 per phone, which is a $130 discount

iPhone SE (2022) deals

The budget option in Apple’s lineup, the iPhone SE was updated in 2022 but was still targeted squarely at people who wanted a no-frills iPhone experience. From $429, it’s an affordable device for anyone who wants to stick with a familiar experience.

Apple/CNET

Best Buy is currently offering a discount of $130 on the iPhone SE (third gen). If you want an unlocked model of the 2022 iPhone SE, you can pick it up for as much as $120 off the list price with an eligible trade-in at Best Buy. You can also get a pair of second-generation AirPods Pro for $60 off with this phone as well.

If you prefer to buy your iPhone right from the source, you can do that with the iPhone SE. Apple has all the carrier models, along with the unlocked one. If you’re already an iPhone owner looking to switch to the SE, Apple is offering up to $620 when you trade in an eligible device. With a base price of $429, that means you could theoretically get the SE totally free, although you’re probably going to be trading a phone that gets you $40 to $100 off. If your trade-in doesn’t cover the full cost, you can pay the remaining cost in full, or split it into 24 months of interest-free payments when you use an Apple Card during checkout.

Carrier offers include up to $358 in bill credits from AT&T and the potential to get the phone for free from T Mobile; both require qualifying trade-ins.

When you buy an iPhone SE on a new line with any 5G unlimited plan, you can save $430, which gets you the 64GB model for free. Just note that the discount will be applied in the form of monthly credits over 36 months, even if you buy the phone outright.

T-Mobile currently has no major offers on the iPhone SE (3rd gen), but you can save with an eligible trade-in. Right now, the carrier is also waiving the activation fee of $35. At a current price of $430, you can score this phone at a decent price when you stack up these savings.

As with the other iPhone models, Spectrum has the SE available and you can get $100 off with purchase.

How we choose the best iPhone deals at CNET

Many of us here at CNET have covered deals on top tech for over five years, including cell phone deals from brands like Apple, Google, Samsung, OnePlus and more. In that time, we’ve learned how to spot the best deals from trustworthy retailers and carriers to simplify the phone buying process. We look for direct discounts, trade-in offers and other bonuses offered for both unlocked and carrier phones when choosing the best deals to show you in order to score you the best deal and avoid online shopping scams.

To buy outright in new condition, the iPhone SE is going to offer the cheapest iPhone deal. It starts at $429 contract-free and you can find carriers offering iPhone SE deals from as little as $0 per month making it a free or super affordable choice.

It appears a simple question at first, but the best iPhone deal for you might be different from the best iPhone deal for someone else. Apple currently sells eight different iPhone models, so choosing the right one for you means assessing your needs and preferences when it comes to things like design, features, cameras and price.

If you want Apple’s latest and greatest, you’ll want to take advantage of the offers available on the new iPhone 15 series. For the time being, the iPhone 14 is going to be the best previous-gen iPhone for most people as it balances top-tier features with a relatively affordable price (especially with the deals below). It has a bright and clear OLED display, 5G support and cameras that are more than good enough for day-to-day use, and the A15 Bionic chip powering it is a portable powerhouse.

The older iPhone 13 models are still solid phones, though, and you can pick up the iPhone 13 from Apple for a while longer. Just because these are previous-gen devices doesn’t mean they might not be the best iPhone for you, with their high-quality displays, cameras and speedy performance making them a great value for money. Plus, Apple is great at supporting its older devices with software updates for many years after they are released.

If you want the most affordable iPhone, you’re going to be looking at the iPhone SE (at least when it comes to brand-new phones, that is). Updated in 2022, the third-generation iPhone SE maintains the overall design of the iPhone 8, which will be familiar to a lot of iPhone buyers. Don’t be fooled by its classic appearance, as inside it is powered by the beefy A15 Bionic chip found in the current flagship iPhone models. It also offers 5G connectivity and a 12-megapixel camera. For $429, it’s a lot of iPhone for not a lot of money.
