Every Hisuian Form In Pokmon Legends: Arceus

Summary

  • Hisuian Pokémon have new types, moves, and evolutions, like Basculegion evolving from Hisuian Basculin.
  • Hisuian forms often alter original appearances, abilities, and weaknesses, offering unique gameplay experiences.
  • Hisuian Pokémon introduce diverse strategic elements, such as new immunities, resistances, and vulnerabilities.

A variety of new Pokémon and variant forms were introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Some of the Pokémon are evolutions of existing ones, such as Ursaluna evolving from Ursaring. Teddiursa and Ursaring, however, don’t have a new Hisuian form, but there’s still a new Pokémon in the evolution line. Other Pokémon have Hisuian evolutions rather than completely new forms, like the three starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Different forms of Pokémon started with the Alola versions and Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduced Hisuian forms. Unlike Shiny Pokémon, different forms usually change more than the color scheme.

Hisuian Pokémon forms generally have an additional or different type than the original Pokémon. This means that they will have alternative move pools and different strengths and weaknesses in battle. Pokémon Legends: Arceus includes 17 Hisuian forms, some of which evolve into entirely new Pokémon. For example, Hisuian Basculin evolves into Basculegion, one of the rides in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Hisuian forms vary in appearance from having a few noticeable alterations to looking like completely different Pokémon. Since these new forms are native to Hisui, most of them can’t be caught in their original form in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

11 Hisuian Starter Evolutions

Rowlet, Cyndaquil, & Oshawott Evolve Into New Hisuian Forms Of Their Existing Evolutions

The third evolution for each of the starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a Hisuian Pokémon. Rowlett evolves into Decidueye, a Grass- and Fighting-type Pokémon. Hisuian Decidueye’s appearance changes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus from green and orange feathers to red and yellow. Typhlosion, which evolves from Cyndaquil, trades its red fire ring for a purple one and becomes a Fire- and Ghost-type in its Hisuian form. Oshawott evolves into Hisuian Samurott who has a darker color scheme. Hisuian Samurott is a Water- and Dark-type Pokémon. Each of the starter Hisuian evolutions adds new moves to their available pool of attacks.

Although only one starter can be chosen at the start of the game, players can collect all three Hisuian evolutions by catching the starters in Space-Time Distortions or getting them from Laventon at the end of the game. Overall, these new Hisuian forms of the classic Pokémon hold a stat distribution that Trainers would expect from starter evolutions, but their new designs and move sets provide a fresh new approach to their gameplay possibilities. Hisuian Decidueye is a powerful physical attacker, while Typhlosion has a wide range of attacks. Hisuian Samurott, alternatively, is a reliable tank with great offensive capabilities.

10 Hisuian Voltorb & Electrode

The Classic Gen 1 Pokémon Return With New Types Under Their Hisuian Forms

The Hisuian versions of Voltorb and Electrode in Pokémon Legends: Arceus change in appearance from their original forms to more closely resemble the Poké Balls in Hisui. Voltorb has a wooden base that swaps with the dark red half when evolved into Electrode. Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode are both uniquely Grass- and Electric-type, a combination previously seen in only the Mow form of Rotom. Hisuian Voltorb can be caught in Coronet Highlands and it can be evolved into Hisuian Electrode using a Leaf Stone.

The new Grass- and Electric-typing for these creatures opens up a brand new avenue of combat possibilities. Their Grass-type moves could help them counter their Electric-type’s natural weakness to Ground-type Pokémon, for instance. On the other hand, they also gain new weaknesses, such as Fire-type moves. Aside from their designs, Hisuian Voltorb and Hisuian Electrode in Pokémon Legends: Arceus still retain elements that they are known for, such as the annoying use of the Explosion move, which causes them to self-destruct for an immense amount of damage output – which often leads to failed capture attempts.

9 Hisuian Growlithe & Arcanine

The New Hisuian Forms Are Significantly Weaker Than The Gen 1 Forms

Players are first introduced to Hisuian Growlithe after arriving in Cobalt Coastlands. Both Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine are involved in the main story for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but they can also be added to a player’s collection. Hisuian Growlithe can be found in Cobalt Coastlands and it will evolve into Hisuian Arcanine using a Fire Stone. The darker orange color and the earthy tones around Hisuian Arcanine’s face point to the new Fire- and Rock-type for these Pokémon. Both Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine also have Shiny versions as well. However, not all Hisuian Pokémon can appear as Shiny.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to Evolve Sneasel into Sneasler or Weavile

Sneasel can evolve into Sneasler or Weavile depending on which form players catch in Pokémon: Legends Arceus, but it requires an item to evolve.

Compared to their traditional forms from Kanto, both Hisuian Growlithe and Hisuian Arcanine are a lot more vulnerable. Their shared Water-type and Ground-type weaknesses are increased – instead of taking double damage from these types of moves, they now take quadruple damage. Furthermore, they are also weak against Fighting-type moves. Hisuain Growlithe and Hisuian Arcanine somewhat compensate for those added weaknesses with new Rock-type and Ground-type moves that their Kantonian counterparts do not have access to. However, the tradeoff seems somewhat unbalanced and the compensation does not seem enough to justify their usage in competitive-aligned parties in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

8 Hisuian Sliggoo & Goodra

The New Forms’ Typing Makes Them Even More Powerful

Both Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra are Steel- and Dragon-type as opposed to their original Dragon-type. These Hisuian forms both have large shells, but their color schemes are basically the same as their original forms. Sliggoo evolves from Goomy at level 40 and will evolve into Goodra at level 50 while it’s raining. Goomy and Sliggoo can be found in Crimson Mirelands and Coronet Highlands, and Goodra appears in Coronet Highlands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The combination of Steel- and Dragon-type make Sliggoo and Goodra strong against a variety of Pokémon, so they’re good fighters to include on an offensive team.

Their newly acquired Steel-type significantly enhances their Defense stats, even if at the cost of their Speed and a bit of HP. Hisuian Sliggoo and Hisuian Goodra’s new typing also drastically alters their weaknesses, removing super effective damage from Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type moves, and making them weak to Fighting- and Ground-type attacks. They also gain immunity to Poison-type moves and are resistant to nine Types, whereas their original forms had no immunities and were only resistant to four Types. Hisuian Goodra is one of the best tanks in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and it is also very offensively powerful.

7 Hisuian Qwilfish

The New Form Unlocks Access To Overqwil, A New Evolution

Hisuian Qwilfish is one of the new forms that have a completely new evolution in Arceus. Previously, Qwilfish was a blue and yellow Water- and Poison-type Pokémon and had no evolution line. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Hisuian Qwilfish appears black and pink, it can evolve, and it changes to a Dark- and Poison-type Pokémon. Qwilfish can be found in Obsidian Fieldlands and Cobalt Coastlands, and it evolves into the new Overqwil in Pokémon Legends: Arceus after using Barb Barrage in Strong Style 20 times.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Outfits Learned Nothing From Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet missed a chance to improve on Legends: Arceus’ great wardrobe options by restricting players to a small set of uniforms.

Overqwil is needed to complete “The Sea’s Legend” Request, so obtaining a Hisuian Qwilfish and evolving it will be necessary for anyone looking to finish all of their Requests.

Both normal Qwilfish and Hisuian Qwilfish share the same base stats. However, with its new typing, the Hisuian form of Qwilfish loses two weaknesses and gains immunity to Psychic-type moves. It also loses some resistances to compensate for its fewer weaknesses and new immunity. Overall, this new Hisuian form is very well-balanced with its traditional Johtonian form, while also having access to new Dark-type moves in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Of course, its main merit is being able to evolve into Overqwil, which is much more powerful and can learn better moves.

6 Hisuian Braviary Mount

The Creature Can Be Used As A Mount

Hisuian Braviary changes from its original Normal- and Flying-type to become a Psychic- and Flying-type in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Braviary in the Hisui region trades its red wings and tail for bright white, and the colors on its head are lighter as well. Both Rufflet and Braviary can be found in Alabaster Icelands. Rufflet does not have a Hisuian version, but it will evolve into Hisuian Braviary at level 54.

Although Hisuian Braviary can be caught, players will also use this Pokémon as the only flying mount in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and it becomes available through main story progression. Reflecting its Psychic-type, Hisuian Braviary gains a lot more Special Attack and loses some Attack when compared to its traditional form. The creature also loses a significant amount of Speed, which could make it a bit less effective in battles. In general, it is very much tied with its original counterpart, though it does boast a few different moves that can make a difference in fights.

5 Hisuian Sneasel

The New Form Can Evolve Into Sneasler

Hisuian Sneasel doesn’t retain any of the original form’s types, which were Ice- and Dark-type. Hisuian Sneasel is Poison- and Fighting-type and evolves into Sneasler instead of Weavile. Sneasel is also the only Hisuian Pokémon that can also be found in its original form. However, the original Sneasel will only appear in Space-Time Distortions. There is a notable change in the creature’s original color palette, made to reflect its Poison-type. Hisuian Sneasel’s overall behavior will also be more aggressive and less sneaky, reflecting the loss of its Dark-type for its new Fighting-type.

Similar to Hisuian Braviary, Sneasler is also one of the mounts unlocked in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Sneasler allows players to climb up mountains and cliffs without slipping down the side. Sneasler is a fairly strong Pokémon that can act quickly, dealing devastating moves against opponents against enemies. However, it is especially weak against Psychic-type attacks, making it very weak against Hisuian Braviary, for instance.

4 Hisuian Lilligant

The Grass-type Pokémon Gains Fighting-type

Like Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine, players will be introduced to Lilligant’s Hisuian form while playing through the main story. The only way to obtain a Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is by evolving a Petilil using a Sun Stone. Petilil can be found in Crimson Mirelands and evolved at any level as long as players have a Sun Stone. Lilligant’s Hisuian appearance is drastically different from its original form, which had a bulbous lower half and a large orange flower on its head.

Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus also adds Fighting-type to its original Grass-type, making it a decent combination as long as it’s not taking on Flying-type Pokémon. This is because Hisuian Lilligant takes quadruple damage from Flying-type attacks thanks to its new Fighting-type. Overall, Hisuian Lilligant is also weak to many more Types than its regular form, even if it somewhat compensates for it with added resistances.

3 Hisuian Avalugg

The Creature’s New Rock-type Makes It Particularly Vulnerable

Avalugg is originally just an Ice-type Pokémon, but the Hisuian version also adds Rock-type to it. The new type is reflected in the Pokémon’s altered appearance which includes a rocky bottom half instead of being all ice. Hisuian Avalugg can be found in Alabaster Icelands or evolved from Bergmite at level 37. Along with Hisuian Lilligant, Growlithe, and Arcanine, Avalugg’s new form will be involved in the main story, and a frenzied version will need to be defeated to progress through Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

The new form gains more Attack and Speed, while losing some Special Attack and Special Defense stats. Hisuian Avalugg also gets a lot more vulnerable, with six weaknesses compared to its original forms four weaknesses. Out of these six weaknesses, two of them are particularly deadly, dealing four times the normal damage. Hisuian Avalugg also gains three more resistances, but, overall, it is much weaker than its normal form, which was already pretty unreliable.

2 Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark

The New Forms Take On Completely Different Types That Give Them Significant Advantages In Battle

Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are both Ghost- and Normal-type Pokémon instead of their original form’s Dark-type. Instead of appearing black and red to match the Dark-type, the new Hisuian versions are white and red. Their fur is also whispy to reflect their change to Ghost-type. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark can be found in Alabaster Icelands. Zorua will also evolve into Zoroark at level 30. Hisuian Zoroark is a strong non-Legendary Pokémon that players can add to their team toward the end of the main story in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

With Special Attack moves, Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark strike harder and faster due to their increased Special Attack and Speed stats compared to the original forms. They also have three immunities, as opposed to the single one from the regular forms. Furthermore, Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark are only weak to Dark-type moves, whereas their regular forms had three different weaknesses.

1 Hisuian Basculin

The New Version Of The Pokémon Evolves Into A New Mount

Unlike the other Hisuian Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Basculin’s type and available moves don’t change since it is not, technically, a Hisuian form. The only differences from its original form are its appearance and the fact that it can evolve within the game. Basculin is a Water-type Pokémon that can be found in Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands, and Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While not officially a Hisuian Basculin, the White-Striped form of Basculin can only be found in Hisui and Kitakami.

To evolve the Hisuian form of White-Striped Basculin into Basculegion, the creature will need to sustain a total of 294 points of recoil damage in battle without fainting. Luckily, players will get Basculegion as a mount for story progression, so evolving a Hisuian Basculin is only necessary for completing the Pokédex entry. Of course, completionists will look forward to filling the Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so it is best to know how to get Basculegion.
