Every New & Legacy Character Confirmed For Star Wars Outlaws (So Far)

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

While Star Wars Outlaws‘ story takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the game sees a predominantly new cast at it’s core on a new adventure. However, some established names from the wider Star Wars canon are confirmed to appear.

[Warning: The following list contains major spoilers for Star Wars Outlaws.]This is largely because, for the most part, Kay Vess’ story will not be centered around the main conflict between the rebels and the Empire that other Star Wars media focused on this time. Instead, while both warring factions are present, Kay’s personal story delves more into the criminal underworld of the Outer Rim as it grows and thrives while the Empire is distracted.

Kay Vess

Star Wars Outlaws’ Protagonist Is A Cunning Scoundrel And Thief

Star Wars Outlaws‘ story follows Kay Vess, a cunning scoundrel and thief from the casino city of Canto Bight on Cantonica, who is on the run with a bounty on her back after angering a dangerous crime lord, Sliro, in her home city. In an attempt to gain her freedom and start a new life, Kay embarks upon a galaxy-spanning mission to attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.

As shown in the game’s story trailer, Kay is relatively new to the larger dealings of the criminal underworld, being thrown out of meetings with major syndicates as a result. It’s clear, however, that players have a say in how these interactions unfold, as Kay forms relationships with different factions, either working for or against them as she sets out on her adventure.

Nix

Kay’s Faithful Axolotl Companion Will Be Used In Gameplay

Kay’s faithful Axolotl companion, Nix, will be at her side throughout, with Kay stating that she’s been doing what she’s had to do for as long as she can remember to ensure the duo’s survival. Ubisoft called Nix and Kay’s relationship “symbiotic” upon the game’s initial announcement, reinforcing the strong bond the two will have throughout the game’s story. Nix will also be incorporated into Star Wars Outlaws‘ core gameplay, reaching hidden secrets and hard-to-access areas during missions to help bring Kay items, weapons, or unlock new exploration methods.

Sliro & The Zerek Besh

A Major Crime Lord With A Vendetta Against Kay

Sliro’s grudge against Kay comes from one of the instigating moments of the game as Kay attempts to steal from him, forcing her to flee Cantonica, but to add further insult, she does so using his prized starship, The Trailblazer. Sliro is one of the galaxy’s major crime lords, working for the Zerek Besh crime family seen in the Hidden Empire comics, and issues a Death Mark on Kay.

Later in Star Wars Outlaws, it’s revealed that there’s far more to Sliro, as he is actually Director Barsha of the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), and Zerek Besh was a front for the Empire that was used to gather intel from across the criminal underworld. Director Barsha had appeared in the Crimson Reign comics, but was hidden in shadow, so Star Wars Outlaws finally puts a face to the name.

Vail Tormin

Sliro Has Sent A Bounty Hunter To Find Kay Vess

Sliro hires one of the Outer Rim’s most expensive bounty hunters, Vail, to track Kay down, and while she is successful in this, it’s clear she’s somewhat reluctant, and the two have to work together on occasion. A breakdown with Star Wars Outlaws‘ Narrative Director, Navid Khavari that was uploaded to Ubisoft‘s YouTube channel alongside Star Wars Outlaws‘ story trailer revealed that Vail was raised in the underworld and has worked with each syndicate, learning from each of them to make her a formidable adversary.

Jaylen Vrax

Jaylen Offers Kay A “Death Wish” Of A Job

The smuggler, Jaylen, is the person who offers Kay her job, embarking upon one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen, stealing Sliro’s fortune to buy her freedom, something that is described as a “death wish” of a job. However, as time goes on, it becomes clear that he has other plans, particularly with regard to taking down Sliro, who is later revealed to be his brother.

While there was initially speculation that Jaylen, may actually be an alias for Kyle Katarn – the protagonist of the popular
Star Wars: Dark Forces
and
Star Wars: Jedi Knight
games of the 90s –
this was debunked
by
Star Wars Outlaws
‘ creative director Julian Gerighty and narrative director, Navid Khavari in a
Screen Rant
exclusive interview at San Diego Comic-Con in 2023.

ND-5

The Battle-Hardened BX Commando Droid Is A Member Of Kay’s Crew

The battle-hardened, trenchcoat-wearing BX Commando droid, ND-5, is one of Kay’s main crew members throughout Star Wars Outlaws. ND-5 is owned by Jaylen and is assigned the task of making sure Kay goes along with his plan, with ND-5’s programming meaning that he would be forced to kill anyone who disobeyed. Over the course of the game, ND-5 bonds with Kay and Nix and is seen going from a very business-first personality to something softer and more caring, although he is still extremely secretive about his past.

An exclusive mission for
Star Wars Outlaws
‘ season pass,
Jabba’s Gambit
, teases more of ND-5 and Jaylen’s history, revealing that the droid is in debt to Jabba the Hutt.

Riko Vess

Kay’s Mother Taught Her How To Survive Before Abandoning Her In Canto Bight

Riko Vess is one of the Outer Rim’s best slicers, and taught Kay all the skills she would need to survive in Canto Bight’s worker district, from slicing to lockpicking and grifting. When Kay was 12, Riko left her with nothing but a casino chip and a blaster. The two are forced back together later in Star Wars Outlaws‘ story, however, when Jaylen decides two slicers are needed for the heist on Sliro’s mansion and brings in Riko to work with Kay.

Bram Shano

Bram Has Watched Out For Kay All Her Life, Letting Her Stay At His Bar When Riko Left

Bram is the owner of the Canto Bight bar, The Broken Hoof, and has looked after Kay since Riko abandoned her, letting her stay in the attic and providing her with free meals. Aside from bartending, Bram is a broker, providing Kay and others with several illegal jobs across the Worker’s District.

In terms of gameplay, Bram is also one of the first “Experts” kay meets in Star Wars Outlaws. These experts provide a way to unlock new skills, and this can be done by performing specific feats in the open world. The abilities unlocked through Bram consist of the basics, such as lockpicking and melee attacks, as well as upgrading Kay’s health, fulfilling personal requests at merchants, and distracting enemies by talking to them and feigning surrender.

As an expert, Bram provides Kay with the following upgrades:

Ability

Perk

Cantina Brawling

Allows Kay to execute melee attacks.

Lockpicking

Open a variety of doors and containers by succeeding in the lockpicking minigame.

Fast-Talk

Quickly react to nearby alerted enemies and delay their reaction with a distraction.

Keep Talking

Allows Fast-Talk to affect all nearby enemies in a medium radius.

Armored Undershirt

Increases Kay’s maximum health.

I Know Someone

Unlocks the ability to see and fulfill personal requests at merchants with the “Requests” category.

Danka

Kay’s Information Broker Has Imperial Connections

When Kay arrives on Toshara following her daring escape from Cantonica, Star Wars Outlaws, she is approached by a Mon Calamari named Danka, who serves as one of the primary information brokers in the game, giving Kay some of her first lines of contact with some of the Outer Rim’s crime syndicates. Danka was revealed in the game’s first gameplay showcase when she revealed that she was cooperating with a corrupt Imperial officer who threatened criminal prosecution against Kay if a bribe was not provided to her, showing one of the many decisions Kay has to make and which factions she can anger as a result.

Bosnok

Bosnok Is One Of Kay’s Contacts In Toshara

Bosnok is extremely proficient with numbers, which led to him counting cards in the popular game Sabacc until he was arrested by the Empire. Instead of being imprisoned, however, Governor Thorden offered Bosnok a chance to use his abilities managing records of the Empire’s shady dealings on Toshara. After Kay helps Bosnok escape Imperial clutches, he becomes one of her contacts within the criminal underworld, and she can even play Sabacc with him at a High Rollers game.

Jabba & The Hutt Cartel

Jabba The Hutt And His Syndicate Play A Role In Star Wars Outlaws

Whereas many of the major characters in Star Wars Outlaws are relatively new, Jabba the Hutt is a mainstay in the Star Wars universe, appearing in the franchise since the original 1977 movie that started it all. Jabba is the head of the Hutt Cartel, who made their fortune through smuggling and illegal businesses on Tatooine, and it had previously been revealed that Kay would be able to take jobs from him as part of her interactions with the criminal underworld. In a notable sequence in the game, Kay infiltrates Jabba’s palace on Tatooine, and here, many of Jabba’s allies, such as his Kowakian Monkey Lizard, Salacious B. Crumb, Bib Fortuna, and his Gommorean guards, are present, as well as his Rancor.

The Hutt Cartel also has territory on Akiva in
Star Wars Outlaws
, which is run by Surat Nuat.

Boba Fett

After the first trailer for Star Wars Outlaws showed the transportation of Han Solo in carbonite to Jabba’s Palace, many speculated that Boba Fett would appear in the game as he had a large role in this transportation during the War of the Bounty Hunters comics. However, by the time Kay meets Jabba the Hutt in his palace, the carbonite has already been placed prominently on display, suggesting these events have already played out.

Despite this, Boba Fett does have a very easily missed cameo in the game. As Kay infiltrates Jabba’s Palace and enters a vent if players look to the left, they will be able to see Boba Fett talking to other characters around a table. However, if players are focused on just pressing forward to find Nix, they may not opt to look around in the vents and may complete the game without ever spotting Boba Fett. For those that did, fortunately, YouTuber BabyZone captured it in the footage below:

Gorak, Eleera & The Pyke Crime Syndicate

The Pykes Are A Prominent Crime Family In Star Wars

The Pykes are another confirmed crime syndicate in Star Wars Outlaws and are the first Kay runs into in the game, as they have territory on Toshara, the Savannah moon players spend a large portion of the early game on, and Akiva. The group has been present across plenty of Star Wars media, such as Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Bad Batch, and The Book of Boba Fett, and worked with Darth Maul’s Shadow Collective during The Clone Wars, serving as the galaxy’s main spice runners, gaining control of mining operations on Kessel and funneling illicit substances to Coruscant’s most influential crime families.

Qi’ra & The Crimson Dawn

Qi’ra & The Crimson Dawn Help With A Major Coup

The successor to the Shadow Collective, the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate is mentioned by name along with the Hutts and the Pykes during Sliro’s meeting at the start of Star Wars Outlaws‘ story trailer. Since then, it’s been confirmed that Qi’ra, the face of Crimson Dawn during this time, who was first introduced in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, appears in the game.

Qi’ra and the Crimson Dawn played a significant role during this era, especially in their dealings with other syndicates. While the movies seemed to largely drop this thread after Solo underperformed at the box office, it has been present in Marvel’s recent Star Wars comics as the group was initiating the Syndicate War at this time, using several agents across the galaxy to cause rifts between the various criminal factions, and this is mentioned in some of the dialogue in Star Wars Outlaws. When exploring the frozen planet of Kijimi, Kay learns about a potential coup to overthrow Queen Ashiga, leader of the Ashiga Clan, and comes into contact with Lady Qi’ra directly, as the secretive crime syndicate is heavily involved in helping to pull the strings to get more influence on the planet.

The Crimson Dawn has territory on Toshira and Kijimi in
Star Wars Outlaws
.

Queen Ashiga, Trisk, & The Ashiga Clan

The Reclusive Syndicate Is Situated On Kijimi

A completely new clan, the Ashiga, has been created by Massive Entertainment and Lucasfilm for Star Wars Outlaws. The Ashiga Clan is a reclusive, extremely territorial syndicate centered in Kijimi, the frozen planet first introduced in The Rise of Skywalker. Unlike other syndicates, the Ashiga are supposed to work as a singular unit following their Queen, doing everything for the collective “hive.” As previously mentioned, however, a coup is at play, as Queen Ashiga’s daughter, Krisk, is working with the Crimson Dawn to overthrow her mother’s rule after the queen began dealings with the Empire.

The Ashiga Clan is solely based on Kijimi, but there are some scouts on other planets in
Star Wars Outlaws
with whom Kay can interact.

Waka

A Toshara Mechanic Who Offers To Fix The Trailblazer

Waka is a mechanic and scavenger on Toshara who offers to help Kay by fixing up The Trailblazer when she first lands on the planet. Waka also gives Kay some of her first leads, notably with Gorak of the Pyke Syndicate, but it’s very quickly established that he has a history of many failed grifts and former allies that have given him a reputation as being unreliable.

Gedeek Obaz

The Talented Droidmaster Has A Long History With Kay Vess

Gedeek Oraz is Kay’s childhood best friend and the two used to run grifts in the Worker’s District of Canto Bight, using his skills modifying droids to steal for him. When a casino scam got the attention of the Canto Bight Police, however, Gedeek was forced to enlist in the Empire and leave Kay and Canto Bight behind. Kay recruits Gedeek as the droidmaster for her crew, and his skills also proves to be invaluable in helping to save ND-5 at one point in the story.

Ank Parako

Kay Finds Her Demolitions Expert On Kijimi

Ank Parako used to carry out jobs alongside her husband Pirrip, until sadly his heart gave out mid-way through what would have been their final job. Since then, Ank has accrued immense debts with the Ashiga Clan and uses her explosive aptitude for chemistry to aid Trisk and the Crimson Dawn’s coup to overthrow Queen Ashiga. After this coup, Kay is able to recruit Ank to join her crew for the Canto Bight heist.

Hoss

The Outlaw Legend’s Gambling Problem Makes Him A Problem For Kay Vess

Hoss is a notorious gambler and an outlaw legend who lost everything and wandered into the dunes of Tatooine, desperately looking for anyone he could hustle into handing over their credits. Due to Hoss’ collection of powerful weapons, Kay seeks him out in a bid to recruit him as the “heavy” in her crew, but ultimately, his gambling addiction makes him a liability.

Asara Deyn

The Rebel Soldier Has A Rocky Relationship With Kay Vess

Asara fights for the revels after feeling immense guilt following the death of his sister, Calys, in battle. Asara was captured by Sliro before the events of Star Wars Outlaws, and was the true reason for the original heist on Canto Bight, as his allies attempted to rescue him. Unfortunately, in doing so, they ended up leaving Kay behind, where she was found by Sliro, and while she escaped, this led to the Death Mark being put on her.

Kay crosses paths with Asara and the rebels later in the game, and Asara ultimately joins her crew for the final heist on Canto Bight, although it’s revealed not all is as it seems, and he had an ulterior motive regarding its score. It’s also due to Asara’s constant manipulation on behalf of the rebels that Kay declares them to be no better than the syndicates.
