12 Jedi Who Were Padawans During The Clone Wars & Order 66 (& What Happened To Them)

One of the most impactful events in all of Star Wars was the Great Jedi Purge, which was started by the execution of Order 66. Many of the franchise’s most famous characters were Padawans either during this time, or the Clone Wars directly preceding it. This was a turbulent time, both for the Jedi and for the galaxy, and because of this, many of these characters ended up following incredibly different paths in life.

Because they were Padawans during the time of the Clone Wars and some even during the events of Order 66, many of them were incredibly young at the time. An event as tragic as the Great Jedi Purge would leave a lasting impression on anyone, but because these characters were so young, it had perhaps the greatest effect on them. Listed below are these Padawans, as well as the lives they eventually went on to lead.

12 Knox Was A Tragic Figure That Fought During The Clone Wars

He Was Killed By Savage Opress

Knox was a young Nautolan Padawan during the time of the Clone Wars. While not much is known about him or his life, it is known that he trained under Jedi Master Halsey in the ways of the Force. The two of them were dispatched on a mission together, as seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 3, episode 13, “Monster,” and were sent to the planet Devaron in order to protect the Temple of Eedit.

They were sent there to defend against the Separatist Droid Army, but when Savage Opress joined the battle, things took a turn for the worst. Outmatched by Savage and his incredible brutality, the two of them were killed by Darth Maul’s brother. Knox was forced to watch his master’s death, only to then be quickly killed himself.

11 Nahdar Vebb Became A Jedi Knight During The Clone Wars

His Teacher Was Jedi Master Kit Fisto

Another character introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Nahdar Vebb made his true debut in season 1, episode 10, “Lair of Grievous.” Already a Jedi Knight by the time of his introduction, Nahdar Vebb was a member of a group of Padawans who were elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight before they were ready, their service necessary in the Clone Wars. His master was Kit Fisto, a master who was not present for much of his education, as Kit Fisto was instead fighting on behalf of the Republic.

In the episode of his introduction, Nahdar Vebb and his former master are tasked with tracking down Nute Gunray. This leads them into direct conflict with General Grievous, whose lair they were lured into during their search. Eventually, Nahdar Vebb is separated from Kit Fisto, only to be killed by General Grievous in a head-to-head battle.

10 Naq Med Left The Jedi Order

He Never Finished His Trials And Never Became A Jedi Knight

Introduced in Kevin Shinick’s novel Force Collector, Naq Med was a Padawan during the time of the Clone Wars. He eventually left the Jedi Order in order to pursue a path that felt more faithful to him, to the point where he didn’t hear about Order 66 until after it had already happened. Sometime after leaving the Jedi, he settled down, meeting someone and eventually having a daughter named J’Hara.

At some point in his life, he was hunted down by the Grand Inquisitor, resulting in a fight in which he actually broke the Grand Inquisitor’s lightsaber. He survived and settled on the planet Pam’ba, living there as a family man. He died many years later, his life inspiring his great-grandson Karr Nuq Sin to become an expert collector of Jedi items.

9 Ferren Barr Was A Hero To The Galaxy With A Twist

His Motivations Were Good, But His Actions Were Not

Appearing as an important character throughout the 2017 Darth Vader comic book series, Ferren Barr was a Padawan survivor of Order 66 who dedicated his life to the destruction of the Empire. Despite the fact that he had a good motive in his heart, one that centered on saving the galaxy, he used means to do so that would have been condemned by the Jedi. He used the Force to control the minds of his followers and even assassinated the Imperial ambassador to Mon Cala.

Though it is through his actions that Mon Cala would eventually join the Rebel Alliance, he still used death and destruction in order to bring about that outcome. His good intentions seemed to be fueled by hate, all culminating in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader himself. Ferren Barr would die as a result of this duel, killed by the Sith Lord himself.

8 Kanan Jarrus Took Another Name After Order 66

He Was Originally Known As Caleb Dume

Known as Caleb Dume in the Jedi Order, Kanan Jarrus was the student of Depa Billaba. His master sacrificed herself once Order 66 was executed in order to ensure his survival, protecting him from the clones that attacked them. He eventually met Hera Syndulla, and because of her he decided to join the Rebellion’s efforts to beat the Empire.

While working with the Rebellion in Star Wars Rebels, Kanan would eventually go on to take Ezra Bridger as his Padawan. His story is mainly told in Star Wars Rebels, which sees him fight the former Sith Apprentice Darth Maul and even fall in love with the Twi’lek rebel Hera Syndulla, who would later have their child. He would eventually die on Lothal, protecting Hera from an attack from Governor Arihnda Pryce.

7 Reva Sevander Was A Padawan Eventually Found By The Empire

It Was Her Ultimate Goal To Defeat Darth Vader

Originally created as a villain for the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, Reva Sevander barely escaped the slaughter at the Jedi Temple when Order 66 was executed. After her escape, she was eventually discovered by the Empire, and instead of killing her, she was trained to become an Inquisitor. Now known as the Third Sister, Reva made it her mission to eventually become the Grand Inquisitor.

She did not do this for nefarious reasons, however. Reva wanted to become the Grand Inquisitor in the hopes of someday killing Darth Vader, the man she knew was responsible for the deaths at the Jedi Temple. She would eventually go on to earn this title, but this victory was brief as she would quickly be defeated by Darth Vader and nearly killed. This would leave her searching for revenge in the form of killing Luke Skywalker, but ultimately Obi-Wan convinced her that this was no life to live, and she gave up on her revenge.

6 Trilla Suduri Was Abducted By The Empire

Her Master Was Originally Cere Junda

Like the rest of the Inquisitors, Trilla Suduri was a Jedi before being indoctrinated into the hatred brewed by the Empire. Known as the Second Sister among the Inquisitorious, Trilla was originally taken by the Empire while attempting to protect a group of Jedi younglings. Her master, Cere Junda, was not there when she was taken, though this was because Cere had already been captured by the Empire.

The two of them were then subjected to torture, and while Cere eventually managed to escape, Trilla never did. She felt as though her master had abandoned her, and this eventually fueled the fire that led to her dark side fall. She was brought back to the light in her last moments by Cal Kestis, before being killed by Darth Vader.

5 Gungi Was A Young Wookie Padawan During The Clone Wars

He Returned To Kashyyyk When The Jedi Were Being Hunted

Introduced all the way into The Clone Wars season 5, episode 6 “The Gathering,” Gungi was first seen with a group of Jedi younglings during their rite of passage aptly called the Gathering, which took place on Ilum. This rite allowed Gungi to become a Padawan and train in the ways of the Force. He would go on to appear several times in The Clone Wars, being captured by pirates and even participating in a greater battle against General Grievous.

Although his fate during Order 66 was initially up in the air, Gungi would later go on to make an appearance in the show Star Wars: The Bad Batch. In season 2, episode 6 “Tribe,” Gungi was freed from the Empire by Omega and the rest of Clone Force 99. Gungi would later make his way back to Kashyyyk, where he continued to serve and protect as a member of Yanna’s tribe.

4 Grogu Was Alive During The Clone Wars, Despite Looking Like A Child

Kelleran Beq Helped Him To Escape Order 66

Although Grogu looks to be very young, he is actually much older than many of the characters alive during The Mandalorian. Born in 41 BBY, many years before the Great Jedi Purge, Grogu was raised in the Jedi Temple. When Order 66 finally arrived, he was saved by another Jedi, Kelleran Beq, a Jedi who had previously taught Grogu in the ways of the Force.

He was hidden away, until being found by the Mandalorian Din Djarin on the planet Arvala-7. From here, the two would go on adventures together, with Grogu even briefly learning underneath the instruction of Luke Skywalker. Din Djarin eventually adopted Grogu as his son and made him a Mandalorian apparentice.

3 Cal Kestis Tried To Hide His Jedi Identity

But Was Quickly Discovered By The Inquisitorious

Being the main protagonist of both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, a lot is known about the former Padawan Cal Kestis. First trained under Jedi Master Jaro Tapal, his master sacrificed his own life to ensure that Cal would survive. He lived on the planet Bracca for many years afterward as a rigger for the Scrapper Guild, before being discovered by the Inquisitors and chased off the planet.

After that, he eventually went on to become a part of the crew of the starship Stinger Mantis, along with Cere Junda and Greez Dritus. The group located Eno Cordova’s Jedi Holocron in order to save the remaining Jedi, battling against the Empire in the process. Cal would eventually go on to work with Saw Gerrera and the Rebel Alliance, using his abilities in order to hopefully someday stop the Empire.

2 Barriss Offee Was Imprisoned For Crimes Committed As A Padawan

After Order 66 Was Issued, She Became An Inquisitor

Barriss Offee had a difficult time as a Padawan, haunted by the Jedi’s involvement in the Clone Wars. Believing that the Jedi were forsaking their own ideals, Barris bombed the Jedi Temple and framed Ahsoka Tano for the crime. It was eventually discovered that Barriss was the culprit, leading to her imprisonment at the hands of the Jedi Council.

Sometime after Order 66 was issued, Barriss was recruited to become an Inquisitor. However, Barriss could not handle the cruelty that being an Inquisitor naturally required. She eventually defected from the Empire and became a wandering healer, only to be hunted down by the Fourth Sister, her former friend Lyn Rakish.

1 Ahsoka Tano Is One Of The Most Famous Padawans Of The Clone Wars

She Was Taught By Anakin Skywalker Before Leaving The Jedi

Perhaps one of the most famous Padawans during the time of the Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano was one of the main characters of The Clone Wars. Training underneath Anakin Skywalker as his Padawan, she went from an overly confident and hotheaded child to a Jedi capable of accomplishing great things. She would eventually leave the Jedi Order after being accused of the bombing on the Jedi Temple, a crime actually perpetrated by her friend Barriss Offee.

After her self-imposed exile, Ahsoka would eventually go on to assist the Rebellion in Star Wars Rebels. She met Din Djarin, and even briefly oversaw Luke Skywalker’s training of Grogu. Star Wars has now created a show focusing on her, aptly titled Ahsoka, which focuses on her and her own Padawan Sabine Wren as they attempt to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from infiltrating a galaxy free from the Empire.
