The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has addressed the issue of possible ‘threats’ to its players in India when they arrive for IND vs BAN series. BCB’s admission comes after a political turmoil in the country that saw the government being ousted and anti-India protests. BCB director Nazmul Abedin claimed that there was no such big threat and that they will go ahead with the series as planned.

Bangladesh not worried about threats during IND vs BAN series

As per Cricbuzz, the BCB director exuded confidence in Bangladesh players getting adequate security in India. He added that the board was hopeful the security would be increased if there was a need. He added that such threats were common while playing in all countries.

“These things happen (threat) and it is present while playing in almost all the countries. I don’t think it’s a big threat. We will go the way our tour has been fixed,” said Nazmul.

Naturally we are communicating with the host board and we are pretty confident that they will give us adequate security during the tour and increase it (security) if required,” he said.

India will take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series and three-match T20I series starting from September 19. The two-match Test series will be played in Chennai and Kanpur. Meanwhile, the T20Is will be held at Gwalior, Hyderabad and Delhi. Bangladesh witnessed violence and protests against ex-PM Sheikh Hasina and her government, forcing the latter to flee the nation. Following the turmoil, a caretaker government took over while changes were made to the BCB as well.

The threats addressed by the BCB come in the backdrop of anti-India protests staged during the turmoil. Additionally, there was anger over India giving shelter to Sheikh Hasina after she fled Bangladesh.
