England cricket team all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket. Ali has already retired twice from Test cricket but played for England in both the ODI World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024.

Speaking to Nasser Hussain on Daily Mail, Ali explained the rationale behind bringing the curtains down on his career. The all-rounder claimed that playing for the side were the best days of his life but he was ready to allow the team to evolve. He added that his retirement call was not because he wasn’t fit to play but was because the team had to move on.

I could hold on and try to play for England again, but I know in reality I won’t. Even retiring, I don’t feel it’s because I’m not good enough – I still feel I can play. But I get how things are, and the team needs to evolve into another cycle,” Moeen Ali said.
