Gunther confronts Bret Hart, Bad Blood matches booked, Jey wins #1 Contenders match, Belair & Cargill retains, Natalya returns & much more!!!
The September 09, 2024 episode of Monday Night Raw is the season premiere special edition. The show is officially over and it is stacked up with some of the interesting matches, segments and returns. A lot of things happened on the show, making it one of the must watch shows in recent times. Get to know what happened on the September 09, 2024 episode of Raw, as we came out with the complete summary, highlights, results and winners list of the show.
WWE Raw Summary & Highlights
Eight Person Mixed Tag Team Match- American Made vs Wyatt Sicks
The match began with Nikki Cross going after Ivy Nile and everyone brawling outside the ring. Wyatt Sicks had the initial advantage. Cross dumped a trash can on Nile and striked up with the kendo stick and drop kicked her. Gable came with the kendo stick and Nile throwing Cross over the table gives American Made a brief control.
Gable smashed everyone with the stick, but Erick Rowan took everyone out. He sets a table to break it with Gable, but Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile saved him. Nile sprayed the fire extinguisher and powerbombed him through the table and buried him with all the ringside weapons. They went on to target Dexter Lumis, but Lumis took Gable out with a series of offense. The Creed tried to attack Gacy with the Kendo Stick, but he took them down with a double clothesline. The Creeds finally took Gacy in control with the chair shot.
Gable dumped a trash can on his head and all the three men striked his head with the kendo stick. The Creed and Gable with the trash can on Gacy kept him in control. Outside the ring, Nikki Cross came underneath the ring and took Ivy Nile down. When The Creeds set the table in the middle of the ring, Erick Rowan has raiser from the weapons burrial. He is fired up and he broke a part of a barricade to use it as a weapon.
Rowan took the Creeds down and took him to the rig taking all the three single handedly. However Gable saved the Creeds, sending Rowas face first to the hinged chair and Gable delivering a German Suplex to Rowan. Gable is threatened by Howdy, Rowan slammed Gable over the steel steps. Inside the ring, Howdy delivered a Sister Abigail o Gable. Rowan slammed Julius and Lumis with the frog splash pinned him for the win.
The Judgment Day assaults Terror Twins
Finn Balor played the victim game saying that Damian Priest was the one who betrayed Judgment Day. He claims that he thought him as a brother, but he didn’t. Balor would have been the world champion before, but Priest pulled him back holding the briefcase. He called out Priest to say some words in his face.
Priest rushed to the ring and said that he came to smash Balor. But Balor stopped him clling for a singles match with Damian Priest at Bad Blood. Priest accepts and he doesn’t want to wait that long. Balor said this is not how it works when Judgment Day is around.
Priest fought Balor and other Judgment Day members single handedly, but the numbers game took him out. Rhea Ripley came for the save with the walking stick, and striked Dom and Liv with it, but Liv targeted her knee and dragged her to the ring. Liv with the steel chair and walking stick attacked Rhea and Priest took the shot covering Rhea. As Judgment Day continue their assault, Jey with a steel chair came for the save and forced them to retreat.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match- Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (C) vs The Unholy Union
Bianca Belair and Alba Fyre start the match and Belair takes Fyre right away with the shoulder tackle, send her to the corner and slammed her. Jade Cargill is tagged in and the dynamic duo sends both the challengers out of the ring.
Isla Dawn gets the tag in and they double attack Cargill, but Cargill tossed both across the ring. Fyre tags in and fires strikes on Cargill. Isla is tagged back and so does Belair. Belair took both Dawn and Fire single handedly with the slam, ten punches to the face and a lionsault.
The challengers tries for a double team vertical suplex on Belair, but Jade saved the match. Dawn took Cargill out and ther challengered delibered a double team flatliner and Jade breaks the pin. Jade gets the tag and she cycle kicked Fyre and the duo performed their finisher combo to pin Fyre and retain the title.
Gunther confronts Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett introduced Bret Hart to the ring. They have a special announcement with Bret Hart, that is the Survivor Series tickets will be on sales from this Friday. Bret Hart says thst he is proud to be a Canadian Champions. He says that the Canadian Champions will never back up from a challenge.
Gunther gave a shout out for Bret Hart. The Ting General says that Hart is the best there was, but he wants him to pass the torch as he is the best there is and best the ever will be. Gunther says that Bret Hart is his second favorite, as his all time favorite is Bill Goldberg. Sami Zayn interrupted him.
Sami Zayn stopped Gunther saying that Bret Hart is a hero and doesn’t want The Ring General to make joke of him. Sami Zayn says that the world is still studying how good Bret Hart is. He never backs up, but what Gu ther did was walking backstage regretting Sami’s challenge. Sami asks Gunther to prove if he think he is a best there is.
Gunther says that Sami Zayn isn’t on his league and says no to his fight and walked away. Bret Hart says that he don’t see Gunther as a champion, as he is being a coward running away. The Ring General tries tk enter the ring and attack Hart, but Sami stepped down and attacked Gunther. The referees separate them. Sami and Bret Hart celebrates and the champ walks backstage.
Dominik Mysterio vs Dragon Lee
Hands and shoulders locked and Dom toom Lee to the corner to deliver a cheap shot. Lee took Dom down with the rolling senton and goes for the top rope. Dom took him down with a drop kick and locks his neck, as we go for the commercial break.
After the commercial, Lee took Dom down with the hurricanrana and drop kicks Dom in the corner. Lee tries for a powerbomb but connect with a knee. Dom counters with a slam. Lee ducks Dom in the corner and tries for the pin, but JD puts Dom’s leg on the rope. Rey attacked JD and the brawl broke out between Judgment Day and LWO. Liv attacked Lee from the back, Dom delivered a 619 and Frog Splash and picked up the win.
Six Women Tag Team Match- Pure Fusion Collective vs Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega & Natalaya
Sonya Deville stopped Lyra’s enterance and asked why they are crossing their path week after week and getting attacked by them. He asked who is there mystery partner and the Mystery partner of the team Vega and Valkyria is Calgary’s own Natalya.
Zelina Vega and Zoey Stark start the match. Zoey took Vega out and tags Baszler in. Baszler with a kick from the apron tags Zoey to deliver a springboard crossbody outside the ring. Stark is still in control of the match and she tags Baszler in. Both fight outside and Vega escaped Baszler and went to the ring to tag Natalya. Natalya is fired up and she takes on Stark with a series of innovative offense.
Natalya tries for the sharpshooter, but Zoey goes for a cheap shot. Natalya locks Zoey with the Sharpshooter, Vega locks Deville with the Boston Crab and Lyra lock Baszler with one legged crab. All the three tap out and the team of Natalya, Valkyria and Vega wins
Drew McIntyre was live
Drew McIntyre wants the crowd to sing Punk’s name, because it didn’t upset him as they only chant in the living memory of him. Drew recaps saying that Punk screwed him three times in the world title match this year. He defeated Punk at SummerSlam. Punk asks that does winning Drew by touching four corners of the turnbuckle make him a world title contender.
He says that he ended Punk’s career. Drew says that he has only too little friends left in the business addressing Wade Barrett. He asked Wade Barrett why he stopped Drew from attacking Punk. Adam Pearce came to the ring and asks why he attacked Punk last week and then announced that Drew will face Punk at Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell match.
Rey Mysterio vs Finn Balor
The match began with Balor twisting Rey Mysterio‘s hand. Rey escaped and tries to take him out with the quickness, but Balor with the flying strike took Rey down. He took Rey to the corner and tagets his midsection.
Balor tries for ten punches to the face, but Rey pulled his leg to land face first on the turnbuckle. Rey with a hurricanrana sent Balor out and jumped on him before the commercial. After the commercial, Balor locks Rey’s neck and Rey sends Balor out and delivered a sliding splash outside the ring. Rey performed a seated senton from the top rope and springboard crossbody. Rey delivered a 619 to Finn’s gutt and tried for the signature 619, however Balor caught Rey and locked him with the leg lock between the ropes. Balor refuses to let go Rey and referee stopped the match.
After the match, Balor delibered a running drop kick on the apron sending Rey back first to the ring post. Balor again performed a drop kick sending Rey to the hard part of the ring.
Intercontinental Championsip #1 Contender’s Fatal Four Way Finals Match- Jey Uso vs Pete Dunne vs Ilja Dragunov vs Braun Strowman
Pete Dunne goes after Jey Uso and Ilja Dragunov goes after Braun Strowman. The Monster toon Dragunov, Jey and Dunne. While chasjng Dunne, he hit his ribs on the barricade. Jey performed a suicide dive to take Strowman out. Inside the ring, Dragunov and Dunne square off exchanging strikes and Jey joins the fight. Dunne sent Dragunov and Jey out. Strowman picked Dunne up and threw him over Jey and Ilja to stand tall.
After the commercial, Braun took Dragunov and Dunne with a double clothesline, however Jey drive him shoulder first to the ring post and sent Dragunov out. Dunne and Jey exchange strikes inside the ring. Dunne locks Jey with the armbar and Strowman chokes him.
Dragunov with a missile drop kick took Strowman down. Outside the ring all the three pushed Strowman to the steel steps. Inside the ring, Dunne slammed Dragunob tossing him in the air. Dragunov fights back and tries for a coast to coast, but Jey caught him with a superkick in the mid-air for a nearfall.
After the commercial, Jey and Ilja exchange strikes. Dragunov takes advantage to deliver a clothesline. Dunne breaks the pinfall. Dragunov tries to chop him, but Dunne breaks his finger. Dunne goes for the top rope, but Braun pushed him outside the ring. Strwoman is fired up and sends everyone outside the ring for Strowman express to wreck everyone down. He cleared the announement table, but only to get jumped by Bronson Reed to break the table.
Ilja and Jey are the two standing inside the ring. Both exchange strikes. Dragunov chops Jey and tries to clothesline him, but Jey escapes to perform a spear. Dunne pushed Jey out and steal the win, but Ilja kicks out. Dunne lands series of strikes on Dragunov and tries for the bitter end. Dragunov breaks it and delivered a big boot, powerbomb and H-bomb. Jey breaks the pin with a superkick to Dragunov and delivered a frog splash on Dunne to win the match.
