MS Dhoni del CSK se retirará antes que Piyush Chawla, dice MI spinner

Piyush Chawla, que jugó por última vez para India en 2012, es el segundo mayor portador de terrenos en la IPL con 192 cueros cabelludos.

When will MS Dhoni retire from IPL cricket? This question has been making the rounds for some years now. While the Indian great hung up his boots from international cricket in 2019, Dhoni has been headlining the IPL since its inception in 2007. However, another player who is an IPL legend is Piyush Chawla. While Chawla has not made any official international announcement, he last featured for Team India in 2012. Regardless, Chawla is still going strong in the IPL and is the second-highest wicket-taker in the league.

Dhoni to retire before Chawla?

Having said that, the retirement question always lingers on if you cross the 35-age barrier. Chawla, who will turn 36 later this year, was asked a similar question during a recent podcast episode of Shubhankar Mishra. The host, however, tweaked the question and asked who will retire first – MS Dhoni or Piyush Chawla?

Hearing this, the current Mumbai Indians (MI) spinner lightheartedly replied, ” Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni)“. Chalwa’s answer is just another reminder that Dhoni’s retirement may be on the cards. If not IPL 2025, then probably next year. Although some CSK are praying for Dhoni to continue in the cash-rich league, the reality is that ‘uncapped or not’ Dhoni will have to bid adieu to the sport sometime or the other.
