Even as the IPL 2025 Auction approaches, franchises have no clue about the retention rules. On the sidelines of the franchise owners’ meeting in Mumbai, it was announced that BCCI would announce the IPL retention rules by the end of August. However, the deadline came and went but BCCI did not give any clarity. When the franchises reached out, the BCCI informed them that the rules would be announced by the end of September, perhaps on the sidelines of the BCCI AGM in Bengaluru on Sep 29.
“We have only heard from the BCCI that it will be delayed. We still don’t know about the number of retentions, the number of RTMs, or anything else regarding the IPL auction. We don’t even know when exactly the auction will be,” a franchise official told InsideSport.
