Virender Sehwag has been one of India’s best openers. He’s a great player with a solid attitude on the field. Fans have always loved watching his aggressive style of batting. However, Subramaniam Badrinath, an international cricketer who has represented India in 2 Tests, 7 ODIs, and 1 T20I, believes that Sehwag is not an ideal partner to bat with.

Badrinath recently had an exclusive conversation with InsideSports where he shared his thoughts.

Sehwag is always relaxed: Badrinath

Back in 2010, Badrinath was included in the Test squad for the series against South Africa in India. When asked, “How was it batting with Sehwag? Is he calm on the field, or does he keep singing songs like Sourav Ganguly once mentioned, even when facing top bowlers?” Badrinath replied, “Sehwag is one of the best partners to bat with, but for me, it was actually the opposite experience. I’m the type who’s always a bit tense, always expecting a lot from myself. But Sehwag? He’s completely relaxed, almost as if nothing bothers him.”

“He bats like he doesn’t care, but let me clarify—he cares a lot, he’s just not careless. There’s a fine line, and Sehwag has mastered that balance perfectly. I think that’s the ideal mindset for a sportsman,” he added.
