The ICC has updated the schedule for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, moving the tournament from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to adverse weather conditions. Originally set to be hosted in Sylhet and Dhaka, the event was relocated because of internal turmoil in Bangladesh, including a government change.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, pivotal in the growth of women’s T20 cricket, began in 2009 with eight teams and now features 10. England won the inaugural tournament, but Australia has dominated since, winning six titles and finishing as runners-up in 2016. India’s best performance came as runner-up in 2020. England has experienced the most heartbreak with three runner-up finishes, while New Zealand has also been runner-up twice. The tournament’s qualification is based on WT20I rankings and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier.
