Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have one month to decide their final retention list for the 2025 season. A maximum of six players can be retained (a maximum 5 Indian-Overseas and a maximum 2 uncapped), whether it be using regular retentions or Right to Match (RTM) Cards.
According to Cricbuzz, franchises have until 5 PM IST on October 31 to submit their final retention list. “It may be noted that for retention purposes, any player who gets capped on or before October 31, 2024, will be considered a capped player.”
Last year, the auction was held about 25 days after the retentions were submitted. Assuming something similar would happen this time around, we might see the IPL 2025 mega auction take place on November 25 or 26.
