Duck Duck Go: India crea un récord vergonzoso con 5 patos en la primera prueba de IND vs NZ

Sólo dos veces los jugadores indios han anotado más patos en el cricket de prueba.

India have created quite a few unwanted records in Bengaluru. Rohit Sharma didn’t know that by electing to bat first in the India vs New Zealand 1st Test, he would make one of the worst mistakes any Indian captain has made. The ball was hooping around like you might not even see in England. There was swing, seam, and bounce at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. On the extremely tough surface, India mustered to score just 46. This happened to their lowest Test total at home and the third lowest overall.

5 ducks: Kohli, Jadeja, Rahul, Ashwin & Sarfaraz

A proper failure for the batters. The wasn’t great, but was it 46 worthy? Well, the Indian batters might just say yes. Half of India’s batters registered a duck. It was only the second time in Test history that five of the top eight scored ducks. Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin all scored ducks. Combined, they played 25 balls and scored zero runs.

Out of these five, only Kohli and Ashwin’s dismissals can be justified. William O’Rourke got the ball to bounce and jag back so much that it hit the top of Kohli’s glove and went straight into the hands of Glenn Phillips. Sarfaraz, Jadeja and Rahul all were dismissed for playing false shots. Ashwin got a first ball that bounced extra and seamed away from Matt Henry who claimed a brilliant 5-wicket haul.
