Which Celebrity Was Sent Home On 'Disney Night' on Dancing With The Stars?

It’s “Disney Night” on Dancing With The Stars, which means viewers will get to see their favorite celebrity contestants dance to classic Disney songs, which makes so much sense when you realize that ABC owns Disney. But tonight isn’t about corporate media ownership; it’s about jazz, samba and paso doble, with your favorite Disney characters popping up to serve as background dancers.

There’s no guest judge tonight, following previous guest judges like Gene Simmons, who faced criticism for his inappropriate judging style, and Mark Ballas, who provided thoughtful analysis during “Dedication Night.” But tonight is the introduction of the group dance, which means each couple is performing two dances tonight. And this will apparently continue, as hosts Alfonso Riberio and Julianne Hough inform the audience that the couple at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the night will win immunity during next week’s group dance, if they survive elimination.

While are-they-or-aren’t-they couple Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko were eliminated last week, they actually weren’t at the bottom of the leaderboard. Three couples—Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy, Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, and Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach—landed at the bottom of the leaderboard last week, so whoever is going home is anybody’s guess.

Let’s see how the remaining eight dancers did during “Disney Night.”

This contains spoilers to the results of the Disney Night elimination of Season 33 of DWTS.

Stephen Nedoroscik And Rylee Arnold

Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold’s rehearsal starts with the two talking about how proud they were of their performance last week, where they earned their first nines. They’re determined to keep the momentum going.

Stephen and Rylee are dancing the Charleston to “A Star Is Born” from Hercules. And what better way to show off your dance moves than by getting a time-honored Dancing With The Stars tradition: a spray tan.

Stephen is gleeful before his performance, saying he relates to Hercules because he’s strong and goofy. But this is a tough dance for the “pommel horse guy.” He struggles with his footwork, even though they perform some pretty elaborate acrobatics as well. Carrie Ann Inaba said he got ahead of the music, and couldn’t recover. The other judges pretty much agree, urging Stephen to work on his timing.

Final scores: 8/8/8

Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber

Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber have been rumored to be more than just dance partners, and host Alfonso Ribeiro teases as much when he says it’s time to see how these two got into the mood for romance when they perform a rumba to “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid.

Jenn says she grew up a massive Disney fan, so she’s excited to dance to the classic song. The two decide to reenact a famous scene from the cartoon where Ariel and Prince Eric kiss in a rowboat. They talk about their partnership, and specifically mention this would be their first date, were it an actual date. Sasha says despite the sexiness of the rumba, he wants this dance to be elegant.

Their rumba is sweet and airy, with soft lines and crisp spins. The dance isn’t as exciting as others, but it serves its purpose. Derek Hough says he “ships” their relationship, and she’s showing great improvement. He also advises her to focus on her rib cage and allowing “fluidity in the movement.” Bruno Tonioli calls Jenn a princess, but he points out a mistake where Jenn seemingly lost her balance. But Carrie Ann Inaba calls it their best dance because she can see how much technique Jenn has absorbed.

Final scores: 8/8/8

Joey Graziadei And Jenna Johnson

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei is enjoying his reign at the top of the leaderboard, but he says he also appreciated Carrie Ann Inaba’s constructive criticism last week. The couple are performing a samba to “Trashin’ the Camp” from Tarzan. It’s only right that Joey get to show off his best Tarzan yell. He’s very excited to play the part of Tarzan, and he and partner Jenna Johnson are hoping for a 10.

It’s another fantastic performance for Joey and Jenna. Joey is a natural dancer, and the choreography is playful and fun. Bruno Tonioli said the dance was “savage,” although he says they still need to work on their footwork. Carrie Ann said he really felt like a Disney character come to life, but he needs to work on proportions.

Final scores: 8/8/9

Chandler Kinney And Brandon Armstrong

Chandler Kinney is a Disney star, so it feels right for her to dance a paso doble to her own song, “We Own the Night” from ZOMBIES 2. Chandler says that part was the biggest role she’s had to date, and partner Brandon Armstrong thinks it’s a great opportunity for her to really embrace the character. Chandler also says this part gives her a lot of confidence, which they’re hoping translates to their performance.

Their paso doble is excellent, so maybe it worked. Chandler clearly wants to make a comeback tonight, and their fierce, fiery dance proves they are true competitors. Carrie Ann Inaba calls the performance “passionate,” while Derek Hough says it was “fierce, strong and confident.” Bruno Tonioli says Chandler is the “queen of the night.”

Phaedra Parks And Val Chmerkovskiy

Val Chmerkovskiy says he’s so proud of partner Phaedra Parks. When he asks Phaedra whether she’s more princess or villain, Phaedra says she wants to be a villain, which is a good thing because she’ll be portraying the iconic Cruella de Vil during their jazz routine to “Cruella de Vil” from 101 Dalmatians. The stress of the competition is getting to the couple, and they bicker throughout rehearsal.

But their dance is sultry and soulful, just like Phaedra. It’s sexy and a little over-the-top, which fits for DWTS. Is it a perfect dance? No, but it’s still so fun. Derek Hough compared it to a Broadway show, but felt that Phaedra was a little too reliant on Val. Bruno Tonioli says Phaedra makes being bad look good.

Danny Amendola And Witney Carson

Danny Amendola is riding high at the top of the leaderboard, a surprising run for him, since he didn’t start out as the best dancer in the competition. But he’s improving each week, and the judges love to see that.

Danny says his favorite Disney tradition is getting to say, “I’m going to Disneyland!” after winning the Super Bowl, but this ain’t football, Danny. This is Dancing With The Stars, and he and Jenna Johnson’s jazz routine to *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” from Deadpool & Wolverine better be a winner.

Danny and Witney Carson manage to make their dance pop, incorporating flips and spins, along with intricate footwork and a few boy band-inspired hip thrusts. The judges love this couple, with Bruno Tonioli saying it was a “great tribute to the excitement of Marvel.” Carrie Ann Inaba says their confidence is impressive, while Derek Hough says that while people were initially sleeping on this pair, they shouldn’t any longer because Danny and Witney are clear frontrunners.

Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach

NBA star Dwight Howard and his partner Daniella Karagach have routinely landed at the bottom of the leaderboard, yet they still make it through, week after week. Tonight, they’re dancing a tango to “When Can I See You Again?” from Wreck It Ralph, and Daniella hopes Dwight can control his nerves through the performance. Daniella feels Dwight’s anxiety is standing in the way of true greatness on the dance floor.

Despite Dwight’s lack of technical dance skills, he always puts on a show and always looks like he’s having the best time. What he lacks in prowess, he makes up for in passion. Carrie Ann Inaba says Dwight is an artist, but the dance had a lot of mistakes. Derek Hough says he’s hypnotized by Dwight’s smile, but there were some issues.

Final scores: 8/8/8

Ilona Maher And Alan Bersten

Ilona Maher and her partner, Alan Bersten, have faced an uphill battle during this competition. But they have persevered, surviving landing in the bottom three and continuing to prove they deserve to be here. Ilona confesses she still isn’t fully confident in dancing, but she’s getting there.

Ilona is portraying Luisa, the strong, confident daughter from Encanto. She and Alan really shine in their jazz performance to “Surface Pressure,” and even with Alan dressed as a donkey, their chemistry shines. Ilona even hoists Alan up on her shoulders and twirls him around, showing off her strength and the strength of the character she’s playing.

Derek Hough says it’s clear Ilona is a fan favorite, but she didn’t do as much dancing as he would have liked. Bruno Tonioli says Ilona was true to the character and determined. Carrie Ann Inaba says Ilona inspires young women with her dancing, but she says Ilona needs to work harder to continue on the trajectory she’s been on.

Final scores: 9/8/8

Who Got Immunity For Next Week’s DWTS Elimination?

Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy during the Group Dance on Dancing With The Stars
via: Disney/Eric McCandless

Before the group dance portion of the show, it’s announced that Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong have the highest total of cumulative judges points across the season, so they’ve earned immunity from next week’s dance off and will get three extra points, provided they make it through tonight’s elimination. But let’s be real, Chandler and Brandon are definitely going to be competing next week.

It’s time for the group dance, where all the couples perform together, but the catch is that each celeb has to perform a bit of the dance without their professional partner. The teams will earn a group score, which will be added to their individual scores.

The couples are divided into two teams: Team Roar, who will dance to “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” from The Lion King and Team Goofs, who will dance to “I 2 I” from A Goofy Movie.

Team Roar goes first, with Dwight and Daniella, Danny and Witney, Phaedra and Val, and Stephen and Rylee. Next, Team Goofs dances, with Ilona and Alan, Joey and Jenna, Chandler and Brandon, and Jenn and Sasha. Both team’s dances are high-energy and fast-paced, and while all the couples were impressive, it became clear, watching them all perform together, that some celebrities are dancing at a higher level than others.

Team Roar ends up with a 24 out of 30 from the judges, while Team Goofs earned a whopping 27 out of 30.

Who Went Home During Dancing With The Stars‘ Disney Night Elimination?

Here’s a look at where the couples landed on the leaderboard during Disney Night: Tied for the bottom are Stephen and Rylee, Jenn and Sasha, Phaedra and Val, and Dwight and Daniella. At the top, Chandler and Brandon are tied with Danny and Witney.

After announcing the bottom three—Jenn and Sasha, Phaedra and Val, and Stephen and Rylee—it’s announced that Phaedra and Val will be going home.

Next week sees the celebrities and pros getting into the spirit during “Halloween Night,” where the remaining seven couples will perform their spookiest dance routines.
