Love Is Blind has been one of the most popular reality TV dating shows in the last several years, but there have been some incredibly poor choices made by the casting team, some mistakes so serious that they’ve discredited the show. While Love Is Blind season 7 is still airing, there have been several seasons of the series that have put new and exciting cast members into the spotlight. Though some Love Is Blind cast members represent themselves well on the show, others struggle to present themselves for who they are on the Netflix streaming series.




Cast members on Love Is Blind are expected to fully commit to the experience, allowing themselves to potentially fall in love with a stranger they’ve never seen before. Opening up and being vulnerable in front of the cameras isn’t always natural for Love Is Blind participants, especially when they’re doing interviews outside of the pods, where the cameras are a bit less prominent. Though some struggle with the ability to stay calm on camera, others feel like naturals and sometimes even overplay their emotions for the cameras. Either way, being less-than-genuine for a show like Love Is Blind isn’t right.

Love Is Blind season 4 ushered in an interesting mix of participants, leading to some serious drama early on in the season. Irina Solomonova, who was part of the pod squad of the season, was hopeful she’d be able to find someone who matched her goals and lifestyle. Though she was looking for a driven, independent guy, her behavior during the season wasn’t something she was necessarily proud of. Irina was one of the younger women in the pods, and her petty behavior toward other women wasn’t always appreciated.

Though Irina shared some genuine moments with Zack Goytowski throughout their time in the pods, she struggled when she met him in person. Unclear if she was feeling overwhelmed or was disinterested in her Love Is Blind fiance, Irina went on the post-pods trip with the rest of the engaged couples in hopes she’d figure things out. After an awkward few days, it became clear to Zack and Irina they’d both made mistakes, but the damage to Irina’s reputation was long done, and she was dubbed a mean girl early in the season by viewers.

9 Jeramey Lutinski

Love Is Blind Season 6


Throughout Love Is Blind season 6, viewers were hopeful that Jeramey Lutinski and Laura Dadisman would be able to make their relationship work. Jeramey, who came into the pods seemingly ready to settle down, hadn’t been entirely honest with his Love Is Blind pod squad throughout the process, though. It was revealed as the season was airing that Jeramey had come into Love Is Blind season 6 fresh off of an engagement.

Though Jeramey and Laura hit it off during the pod phase of the season, things got gradually worse in their relationship as they moved through the experiment. As their wedding approached, Laura caught Jeramey in a lie and realized that he was still talking to Sarah Ann Bick, who he’d also gotten to know in the Love Is Blind pods. Laura broke off her engagement with Jeramey, who went on to date Sarah Ann for over a year, but they also wound up splitting up long after the show’s end.


8 JP Pierce

Love Is Blind Season 5

After meeting JP Pierce and Taylor Rue in the Love Is Blind season 5 pods, viewers were struggling to see what Taylor saw in him. JP was a bit more open in the pods than he was in actual life, and by the time Taylor got to know him in person, his personality had shifted. Though he’d been clear that he was going to be accepting of Taylor no matter what she looked like, things shifted quickly when JP and Taylor got to see each other outside of the pods.

JP made some comments about what Taylor looked like without makeup on, explaining that he wasn’t attracted to her when she was wearing her style of makeup. JP quickly made it clear that he wasn’t entirely sure if he was interested in her at all. While Taylor and JP had other issues, as well, it was obvious that his personality was more difficult.


7 Bartise Bowden

Love Is Blind Season 3

As one of the cast members of Love Is Blind season 3, Bartise Bowden was excited at the opportunity to try and find love in the pods. While Bartise was younger than most of the rest of the cast, he shared that he was ready to find a committed relationship. Getting to know Nancy Rodriguez in the pods, the pair quickly got engaged and finally met face-to-face, excited to start planning their future.

Many were worried about some red flags that Bartise was giving off, as well as him potentially switching up his final decision to commit because of his age. When Nancy and Bartise got down the aisle, he shocked her, her family, and the viewers when he told her he wasn’t ready to get married. Coming off like a villain after seeming like he was going to make things work, Bartise gave Love Is Blind a genuine scandal.


6 Lydia Velez Gonzalez

Love Is Blind Season 5

Although Lydia Velez Gonzalez came to Love Is Blind season 5 single, her situation in the pods was different than anyone else’s has been. Lydia was in the pods going through the traditional process when she realized that the voice she was hearing was familiar. She quickly realized that the person in the pods with her was Uche Okorhoa, who she’d been having a casual relationship with before their time on the show. The pair quickly stopped dating and Lydia met her future husband, Milton Johnson, but the damage was already done.


When it became clear who Uche was talking to within the women’s quarters, Lydia started getting closer to the women and grew closer to Aaliyah Cosby, who was Uche’s first choice. While she seemed to think she was doing the right thing, Lydia hid her connection to Uche from Aaliyah while simultaneously counseling their relationship, trying to offer her advice without showing her hand. Lydia’s deceit came out quickly before the pod phase ended, and her relationships with Uche and Aaliyah were destroyed.

5 Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee

Love Is Blind Season 2

While Love Is Blind season 2 had its work cut out after the incredibly successful first season, no one expected the drama of Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee. Widely regarded as one of the show’s biggest casting mistakes, Shake’s mindset wasn’t right for Love Is Blind from the beginning. Shake was fixated on the physical appearances of the women he was talking to in the pods, despite the whole premise of the experiment rallying against physicality.


Despite being one of the more shallow members of the Love Is Blind season 2 cast, Shake got engaged to Deepti Vempati as the pod phase ended. Unfortunately, his behavior only got worse as they show continued on. His dismissive and demeaning attitude toward Deepti caused some incredibly difficult struggles in the relationship, leading to their eventual breakup. Shake’s attitude caused Love Is Blind season 2 to be panned throughout its run.

4 Hannah Jiles

Love Is Blind Season 7


As one of the new cast members on Love Is Blind season 7, Hannah Jiles has the honor of being on one of the most difficult seasons of the series to date. While her time in the pods left her torn between Nick Dorka and Leo Braudy, she ultimately went with Nick despite feeling like he wasn’t going to like her because of her looks. Hannah’s overwhelming sense of insecurity was difficult to watch in the pods, but it was her personality when she entered the real world that pushed viewers over the edge.

Hannah was difficult to deal with on screen, and viewers struggled to understand how Nick could handle her in actual life. Obsessive about cleaning, consistently putting Nick down and belittling him, and struggling to see how her behavior was abrasive, Hannah was a nightmare during her time outside of the pods on Love Is Blind. When her and Nick finally chose to end their engagement, viewers were thrilled to see both of them set free.

3 Stephen Richardson

Love Is Blind Season 7


Another Love Is Blind season 7 star who let viewers down was Stephen Richardson. Many genuinely felt that Stephen was going to be one of the breakout stars of the season, as he appeared to be a deeply kind, understanding man who just wanted to be in love. When he met Monica Davis in the pods, it appeared he’d found something genuine, and the pair quickly got engaged after professing their love for one another.

Things got tricky as they moved into the real world and the expectations they had for their relationship seemed to be a bit different. When it came to light that Stephen had been texting another woman sexually explicit messages, Stephen tried to excuse himself by saying he’d been drinking, but it was too late. He destroyed the facade he’d built of his personality, making it clear that he wasn’t the great guy he’d presented as.


2 Carter Wall

Love Is Blind Season 5

Although Carter Wall wasn’t a big fixture on Love Is Blind season 5, his relationship on the series with Renee Poche became one of the biggest issues of the season. Carter and Renee weren’t featured in the episodes frequently, but they pursued a relationship outside of the Love Is Blind pods and even made it to the altar. Though they were filmed for the series, Carter and Renee’s relationship was allegedly too volatile to show on Love Is Blind season 5.

Though there’s no confirmation about what happened between the couple, Renee shared that there were red flags about Carter she began noticing when they got back from the Love Is Blind couple’s trip. She didn’t disclose these red flags publicly, but many have speculated that Carter could’ve gotten emotionally manipulative or physically violent with his Love Is Blind bride. Ultimately, she chose to say “no” at the altar, ending their relationship.


1 Tyler Francis

Love Is Blind Season 7

As one of the biggest surprises of Love Is Blind season 7 became the drama surrounding Tyler Francis and the children he fathered prior to the series. While Tyler and his Love Is Blind fiance Ashley Adionser became close during the pod phase of the experiment, he was keeping a major secret from her during the entirety of the pod phase and the couple’s trip. Tyler chose not to share that he’d donated sperm to a close friend, who had three of his biological children.


Though Tyler was clear he wasn’t the children’s father, Ashley was caught off guard by the information, as he hadn’t shared it prior to their engagement. Though Ashely wasn’t happy with Tyler keeping things of that gravity to himself, she understood where he was coming from. The scandal itself, however, has yet to be fully resolved and has caused an incredible amount of drama on Love Is Blind.
