Antes de BGT, Cricket Australia renueva el contrato del entrenador en jefe Andrew McDonald’s

Australia ocupa actualmente el puesto número 1. 1 en Test cricket y 2 en formatos de bola blanca (ODI y T20I).

Cricket Australia (CA) has announced that Andrew McDonald will continue as Australia’s men’s cricket team’s head coach until the ODI World Cup 2027. Having taken over from Justin Langer in 2022, McDonald has helped Australia win the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, both last year (2023).

Big challenges ahead

Seeing how successful he’s been, CA has decided to give him a 3-year extension. During this period, McDonald would have significant challenges to face. Six big events excluding the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy wait for him: ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Ashes 2025-26, T20 World Cup 2026, Ashes 2027, Border-Gavaskar 2027, and ODI World Cup 2027.

McDonald looking to continue Australia’s winning legacy

“I am very fortunate to have an exceptional group of leaders, players, coaches and staff who are fully invested in the ongoing well-being, success and development of this group,” Andrew McDonald said in a statement.

“The professionalism, commitment and experience of my fellow coaches and the wider staff have ensured the journey has been extremely successful but just as importantly created a culture of unity, trust and inclusivity. International cricket has many challenges for all teams and I am particularly proud how the group, players and staff, across all formats have navigated those together,” the Australian head coach added.
