10 Most Powerful Siblings in Anime

Anime siblings can share each other’s power, creating some of the strongest pairs, or groups of three, in their respective series. Characters like Itachi and Sasuke from Naruto have incredibly similar powers, but have their own versions of unique skills, making them a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. The most powerful siblings in anime aren’t always on the same side either, which always makes for an interesting fight. One brother fighting another can be emotional, fulfilling, and jaw-dropping when done right.

No matter if two anime siblings are fighting each other or on the same side, it’s always fun to see when they connect. Some brothers, like Ritsu and Mob from Mob Psycho 100, don’t have to fight each other. Instead, they can rely on one another in some of the toughest fights in the series, focusing on their faith in each other to defeat opponents they wouldn’t have been able to beat on their own.

10 Rem and Ram

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World

Rem and Ram are two demons in Re:Zero. They were taken in by Roswaal L. Mathers’ into his estate to work as both his maids and pseudo-bodyguards. He made a great choice by saving the demons, as they’re two of the strongest characters in the series, both on the battlefield and outside it. Rem and Ram can both use a combination of magic and empowered physical attacks to bring down enemies much bigger and more threatening than them.

During the first half of Re:Zero’s first season, it was revealed that Subaru was continuously dying due to Rem and Ram. He suffered some of the most brutal deaths in Re:Zero because of them, showing just how far they were willing to go to protect their master. Thankfully, they fight for Subaru now, and not against him.

9 Ritsu and Mob

Mob Psycho 100

Mob was already one of the most powerful characters in anime history with his increidble esper powers. When Ritsu’s powers were finally unlocked, they were easily the strongest siblings in the series. Together, Ritsu and Mob can down just about anyone. Ritsu displayed both his fighting skills and his knack for battle in a battle against Shimizaki. Shimizaki is a walking one-man-army. He took on several of the strongest espers around by himself, and if it wasn’t for Ritsu, they all would have lost.

Ritsu was able to predict his movement as Shimizaki was teleporting around the battle. Luckily, Reigen came towards the end and his use Self-Defense Punch Rush move to take down the evil esper. While Shimizaki was on the ground weighing his options, he felt Mob’s enormous energy and realized that if he wanted to live, he’d have to run away.

8 Alphonse and Edward

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Alphonse and Edward have been through a lot together. Their father left their family when they were young, which broke their mother mentally, leaving them without any responsible parents from an early age. When their mother died from an illness somewhat unexpectedly, they tried to bring her back from the dead using alchemy. It backfired horrifically, as not only did they not bring back their mom, but they sacrificed all of Alphonse’s body and half of Edwards to the experiment.

Since then, Edward has gone on to become the youngest State Alchemist in the series’ history. Alphonse is also a powerhouse in his suit of armor, which isn’t one of the worst things to be trapped in if you lose your normal body. Their alchemy, combined with their faith in each other, gives them the ability to take down enemies several times stronger than them on a near-regular basis.

7 Tanjiro and Nezuko

Demon Slayer

Tanjiro and Nezuko are an unexpected pair of strong siblings. Tanjiro has spent most of the series protecting Nezuko. When they were in the Entertainment District together, fighting their first Upper Rank Demon, Tanjiro couldn’t protect Nezuko anymore. Instead of continuing to be defenseless, Nezuko got a ridiculous power boost. She grew massively in size, had a huge horn protruding out of her head, and was able to stomp out Daki like a flame.

Tanjiro is one of the strongest characters in Demon Slayer by himself. He was able to take down Upper Moon Rank Four Hantengu nearly by himself, using the powerful Thunder Breathing he learned from Zenitsu. When Gyutaro was fighting Muzan one-on-one, Tanjiro was the only person to get his sword out immediately, as the other Hashira were too slow to react.

6 Asta and Yuno

Black Clover

Asta and Yuno aren’t biological siblings like the other strongest siblings in anime, but they’re adopted brothers instead. They were both left at the same orphanage and were raised together, creating the best friendship in Black Clover. Not only are they brothers and friends, but they’re also each other’s rivals, constantly pushing themselves and one another to achieve greater and greater success. When they’re fighting together, even the former Leader of the Elves, Licht, had a hard time with the teenagers.

Asta and Yuno work well when they’re fighting together. Asta’s Anti-Magic abilities and Yuno’s absurd mana can combine for some seriously powerful attacks. It’s almost guaranteed that one of the two is destined to become the Wizard King, and if they make it to the top, the Clover Kingdom will be all the better for it.

5 Android 17 and 18

Dragon Ball Z

The Androids have had one of the best character arcs in Dragon Ball. They started as a terrible threat to the Earth and the Z Fighters protecting it. Since then, they’ve become allies to Earth’s protectors, with Android 17 winning the Tournament of Power for Earth and Android 18 even marrying Krillin. Before they were nice and changed sides, they went on a rampage. They were some of the few villains in Dragon Ball that the main cast of characters just couldn’t defeat for a long time.

They have an infinite amount of energy because they’re Androids, have sturdy bodies, and are vicious when they’re fighting. Thankfully, they’re fighting on the side of good now. If they didn’t, the current timeline might look a lot more like Future Trunks’s timeline, where he was the sole survivor of the Android threat.

4 Hashirama and Tobirama

Naruto: Shippuden

Hashirama and Tobirama are the first two Hokages respectively. They were the two most powerful ninja of the Senju clan and were able to take on the Uchiha clan in battle. When Tobirama killed Madara’s brother, the two clans realized it was time to put their grudges aside and work together towards a new future. Hashirama is considered to be the ‘God of Shinobi’ thanks to his ability to end their grudge against the Uchiha and for his insane fighting abilites. His wood jutsu is one of the strongest in the series. It’s so strong that Madara even stole his cells to use it.

Tobirama is one of the smartest characters in Naruto and equally as deadly as his brother. He’s the progenitor of most of the best Jutsu in the series, including the Reincarnation Jutsu and most Space-Time Ninjutsu as well. When the pair were brought back to Earth using the Reincarnation Jutsu, the Allied Shinobi Alliance finally had a chance.

3 Choso and Yuji

Choso and Yuji are an interesting pair of brothers. They didn’t know they were brothers until after their fight, when Choso nearly beat Yuji to death. Once he realized they were all from the same Death Womb Paintings, he spared his brother’s life and vowed to protect him. It was a complete 180 from their previous relationship, as Yuji had no idea he had siblings. They began to fight together against the Cursed Spirits that brought them against each other.

Choso might be the best big brother in anime, outside Itachi. He is willing to do anything for his siblings and even forgives Yuji for killing their other brothers because Yuji simply didn’t know at the time. Now that they’re friends, Choso is using his powerful blood piercing techniques to take down Yuji’s enemies with them, creating one of the most powerful bonds in the series.

2 Sasuke and Itachi

Naruto: Shippuden

Sasuke and Itachi have the most complicated brotherhood in anime. For most of the series, Sasuke only knew his brother as the man that slaughtered his entire clan, including his parents. Sasuke was the only remaining Uchiha, only because Itachi chose to protect him, and even threatened Danzo that he’d come back if Sasuke was ever messed with. When Sasuke is finally time to avenge his clan, he takes Itachi on in one of the best, most surreal fights in the series.

There aren’t many better moments in Naruto than when Sasuke finally learns the truth. When he realizes his brother became the ultimate martyr for their village, he can’t help but forgive him. Itachi later gets reincarnated for a short period, and finally gets to work together with his brother against Kabuto. It’s a cathartic fight that finally sees the Uchiha on the same side, and not against each other.

1 Gohan and Goten

Dragon Ball

Gohan and Goten are easily the strongest anime siblings around. Gohan alone is one of the strongest characters in anime when he decides to be, and Goten can transform into Super Saiyan 3 when he’s fused with Trunks. While neither of them has the inherent will to fight like their dad, they both have what it takes to defend the Earth from the most powerful threats in the Universe. When Goku and Vegeta are training with Beerus away from their planet, Gohan is the only defender left who can stop Cell MAX.

Gohan’s Beast Form is one of the most exciting in the series. He unleashes all of his latent power at once, ascending to a form either near or above even Godhood. While Goten isn’t close to his older brother, he’s no pushover. Especially when he’s with his best friend Trunks, he’s a powerful character capable of a lot of the same moves his dad did. Though they haven’t had as many opportunities to work together, Gohan and Goten are clearly the strongest siblings in anime history.
