Since 2017, South Korean actress Han So-hee has appeared in a number of K-dramas, and each of her roles has been uniquely different, leading to some characters being way more interesting than others. Han first entered the K-drama scene in 2017 when she took on a minor role in the series, Reunited Worlds. From there, she quickly collected even more roles until she became a notable leading lady. Most recently, Han has become known for K-dramas like Gyeongseong Creature, Nevertheless, and My Name . Han is a talented actress with plenty to offer, but her characters aren’t always the best.
Of the nine K-drama roles Han has originated, there are some truly amazing characters, and some more forgettable ones. Han’s best characters are those with interesting storylines and plenty to do on-screen. Meanwhile, her worst characters are those who don’t bring much to the plot, and worse, seem more like devices to keep the story moving rather than real people. Ultimately, Han’s best and worst characters are not a reflection on her or her performances, but point out which K-drama characters in general are the most (or the least) exciting to watch.
9 Lee Seo-won In Reunited Worlds
Han Plays The Brother’s Girlfriend
It should be no surprise that Han’s least interesting role was her very first in 2017’s Reunited Worlds. This K-drama follows a high school couple who are struck by tragedy when the boyfriend is unexpectedly killed. However, their story turns even more complicated when the boyfriend comes back to life 12 years later, sparking a renewed love story and a search for the truth. In the series, Han plays Lee Seo-won, the boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend.

Considering that Han’s character is part of the extended cast and only plays a minor role in the series, it makes sense that she is not the most interesting. Seo-won’s character is made up of three parts: Sung Young-joon’s girlfriend, the daughter of the Hospital Director, and a fashion journalist. Altogether, these are somewhat interesting traits, but they never get much exploration because Seo-woon simply isn’t at the heart of this story. Therefore, Seo-won is one of Han’s least interesting characters.
8 Yoon Seo-won In Money Flower
Han Is The Other Woman
Money Flower (2017) is a South Korean television drama that explores themes of revenge, greed, and ambition within the complex dynamics of a wealthy family and their corporate empire.
- Cast
- Jang Hyuk , Park Se-young , Jang Seung-jo , Lee Mi-sook , Lee Soon-jae , Han So-hee , Sunwoo Jae-duk , Park Ji-il , Park Jeong-hak , Moon Soo-bin , Cho Byeong-kyu
- Release Date

A character that is a step up from Han’s role in Reunited Worlds is Seo-won in Money Flower. This 2017 revenge K-drama follows Kang Jil-poo, a respected attorney at the iconic Cheong-A Group who intends to avenge his family’s deaths by taking down the company once and for all. To do this, he intends to set up Jang Boo-cheon with a beautiful woman, yet Jil-poo begins to fall for her instead, creating a complex and troublesome love triangle. Meanwhile, Han plays Boo-cheon’s former lover, Seo-won.
Seo-won in Money Flower is a bit more fun to watch than Seo-won in Reunited Worlds because the former is not just Boo-cheon’s lover, but his secret lover. This adds another layer of intrigue to her story, where she grows jealous of Boo-cheon’s new love interest, but cannot publicly show her disdain. Her ties to the Cheong-A Group also put her in a unique position to cause chaos within the already difficult love triangle. Ultimately, Seo-won isn’t the greatest character, but she definitely adds a little bit of spice to the plot.
7 Lee Eun-soo In Soundtrack 1
Han Takes On The Lead Role
Soundtrack #1 is a South Korean romance drama web series directed by Kim Hee-won. Released in 2022, it stars Han So-hee and Park Hyung-sik as lifelong friends who navigate their evolving relationship while working together on a songwriting project. The series explores themes of friendship, unspoken feelings, and the power of music in connecting people.
- Cast
- Park Hyung-sik , Han So-hee , Victoria Grace , Hao Feng , Jennifer Sun Bell , David Chen , Steven Lim , Seo In-Guk
- Release Date
- March 23, 2022
One of Han’s more recent K-drama roles that falls on the more boring side of things is Lee Eun-soo in Soundtrack #1. This drama follows childhood best friends, Eun-soo and Han Seon-woo, who reunite after many years when they begin living together. Seon-woo is a photographer who moves in to help Eun-soo write a song about unrequited love for a major music producer. As they reignite their old friendship, the pair begin to realize that their own feelings for each other may run deeper.
With only four episodes under its belt,
Soundtrack #1
moves fairly quickly, making it difficult for Eun-soo to stand out as anything more than just a fine protagonist.
Although Han is the lead character in Soundtrack #1, her role is not the most riveting. Eun-soo is definitely a solid character, as she has a creative job as a lyricist and goes through a wide range of emotions, but Soundtrack #1 is generally too short to make Eun-soo exciting. With only four episodes under its belt, Soundtrack #1 moves fairly quickly, making it difficult for Eun-soo to stand out as anything more than just a fine protagonist.
6 Yeo Da-kyung In The World Of The Married
Han Plays The Other Woman (Again)
In 2020, Han garnered a bit more popularity with her role in The World of the Married. In this series, Ji Seon-u’s life is turned upside down when she discovers that her husband is cheating on her. Enraged by her husband’s betrayal, Seon-u sets out to ruin his life by revealing his worst secrets to his peers. Seon-u must come to terms with the cracks in her seemingly perfect life, and figure out how to move on. Han plays the so-called other woman, Yeo Da-kyung.

10 Best Non-Romance K-Dramas, Ranked
While many K-dreams use romance as a central part of their plots, there are a ton of great K-drama TV shows that don’t focus on the romance element.
The character of Da-kyung is definitely another step up for Han, who had played this type of secret lover before, but not on such a large scale. Where Han’s character in Money Flower was also an affair partner, she didn’t play as big of a role in the overarching series. On the other hand, Da-kyung in The World of the Married is incredibly important to the plot, and audiences see how Seong-u’s revenge affects her. Da-kyung is not just a device but a real player in the K-drama’s story.
5 Jang Hee-jin / Oh Su-jin In Abyss
Han Has A Double Identity
Abyss is a South Korean television series that follows the story of Cha Min (Ahn Hyo-seop) and Go Se-yeon (Park Bo-young), who are revived by a mysterious orb with the ability to reincarnate souls. The pair navigate their newfound lives and attempt to unravel the truth behind their deaths while confronting various adversities. The series blends elements of fantasy, mystery, and romance, offering an intriguing narrative of rebirth and investigation.
- Cast
- Park Bo-young , Ahn Hyo-seop , Song Sang-Eun , Lee Soo-min , Lee Ji-wan , Han So-hee , Lee Si-eon , Lee Sung-jae
- Release Date
- May 6, 2019
Another character played by Han with a complex story is Jang Hee-jin in the fantasy K-drama, Abyss. In Abyss, two childhood friends, Go Se-yeon and Cha Min, suddenly die in separate incidents. By some miracle, they are brought back to life, but put into different bodies whose physical appearance is connected to their soul. The friends must figure out how this body-swap has happened, while also coming to terms with their feelings for each other. Han plays Cha Min’s fiancée, Hee-jin.
At first glance, Hee-jin doesn’t seem to have much going on as Cha Min’s loving yet suspicious fiancée. However, as the series continues on, audiences learn that Hee-jin is not only exaggerating her feelings for Cha Min, but she is also hiding a completely false identity. Hee-jin is not just a random young woman, but the daughter of a legendary surgeon who may be behind Cha Min and Se-yeon’s body-swaps. In this way, there is a lot to uncover about Hee-jin, making her far more interesting than some of Han’s other characters.
4 Kim So-hye In 100 Days My Prince
Han Plays A Controversial Crown Princess
The Han character that likely gets into the most drama is Kim So-hye in 100 Days My Prince. This 2018 historical K-drama follows the Crown Prince, Lee Yul, who is unhappy with his royal life. Fortunately for him, he is able to leave it all behind after he falls off a cliff and loses his memory. For 100 days, Yul wanders around under a new identity, living the life he always yearned for, though he doesn’t exactly realize it. Han takes on the role of Yul’s wife, So-hye.
So-hye is not Han’s most likable character, but she definitely has a storyline that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Although Yul and So-hye are husband and wife, they do not actually love each other and put off consummating their marriage. This is one of the most interesting elements of So-hye’s character, as she also tries to avoid her royal duties. However, even more exciting is the other side of her romantic life, which sees her fall in love with her father’s hired killer, and the two conceive a child together. So-hye is not Han’s most likable character, but she definitely has a storyline that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
3 Yoo Na-bi In Nevertheless
Han Takes On The Cynical Romantic
Nevertheless is a South Korean television series that explores the complex relationship between two art students, Yoo Na-bi and Park Jae-eon. Despite Yoo Na-bi’s aversion to love and Park Jae-eon’s flirtatious nature, they are drawn to each other through a series of encounters. The show delves into themes of love, desire, and the challenges of modern relationships, providing a nuanced look at youthful romance.
- Cast
- Han So-hee , Song Kang , Cheska Aguiluz , Yang Hye-Ji , Lee Ho-jung , Jeong Jae-kwang , Ha Do-kwon , Lee Seung-hyub
- Release Date
- June 19, 2021
Han’s most interesting characters come with her most interesting series, and one of these is Nevertheless. This college romance K-drama follows Yoo Na-bi, a young woman who no longer believes in love after a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend. Na-bi wants to continue dating, but is sure she will never fall in love again. Of course, her mindset quickly begins to change when she meets Park Jae-eon, a flirtatious young man who is an expert at hiding his strong feelings.
Han So-hee stars in
Nevertheless
alongside Song Kang, who is another K-drama actor with several notable credits including Netflix’s
Sweet Home
and
My Demon.
What makes Na-bi so intriguing is the emotional work she does throughout Nevertheless. Where other Han characters stand out because of the wild circumstances they are in, Na-bi is unique because she is relatable, and her experiences are important. Na-bi certainly isn’t the only person in the world to give up on love, and this makes her truly awesome to watch. Audiences can become invested in her struggle because it isn’t too far off from reality.
2 Yoon Chae-ok In Gyeongseong Creature
Han Is An Apocalyptic Tracker
Han’s most recent K-drama character is definitely one of her best and that is Yoon Chae-ok in Gyeongseong Creature. This 2023 Netflix series takes place in 1945 during the Japanese occupation of Korea. However, this world is a bit different, as a pawn shop owner and a woman searching for her missing mother discover a terrifying creature inside a local hospital. The two form a bond and work together to solve this historical sci-fi mystery.

Chae-ok is a great character because her story does not depend on anyone else. Where Han has previously played characters who are defined by their relationships to others, Chae-ok is firmly her own woman. She is a tracker and a detective who is good at her job and clearly talented in other ways. She brings a sense of intelligence and resourcefulness that some of her other characters never do. Ultimately, Chae-ok is a far cry from Han’s more romantic characters, but this is exactly what makes her more intriguing.
1 Yoon Ji-woo / Oh Hye-jin In My Name
Han Portrays An Undercover Agent
My Name is a South Korean television series starring Han So-hee as Ji-woo, a revenge-driven woman who infiltrates a drug cartel to avenge her father’s death. As she rises through the ranks, Ji-woo must navigate the dangerous underworld of organized crime and confront her own morality.
- Cast
- Han So-hee , Park Hee-soon , Ahn Bo-Hyun , Kim Sang-Ho , Lee Hak-ju
- Release Date
- October 15, 2021
- Creator(s)
- Kim Jin-min , Kim Ba-da
Han’s most interesting character by far has to be Yoon Ji-woo from My Name. Han stars in this series as a young woman who wants to take revenge on the people responsible for her father’s death. As a result, Ji-woo begins working for a local drug ring while also joining the police force to take those same criminals down. Ji-woo hides her identity and works for multiple people, all with the intention of getting the revenge she so desperately desires.
My Name is an even darker entry by Han, and this definitely makes it stand out. My Name is not just about love or relationships, but narrows in on crime, justice, and morality. Ji-woo is just a resourceful as Chae-ok, but she is even better because of the emotional turmoil she is going through. She doesn’t just have a physical mission; she is also on a mental journey to come to terms with her father’s death. Overall, Ji-woo is the best because her story is full of layers, and uncovering each one makes the K-drama better and better.
