British crime series have been a big draw for audiences with the shows on BritBox appealing to a wide international audience. Sherwood has emerged as one of the most recent and most compelling series of this kind that also has the added thrill of having a true-crime connection. It centers around the investigation into a pair of murders in a small community that seems to have ties to the infamous coal mining strikes of the 1980s in England.
Sherwood season 1 was an acclaimed and gripping look at how the tensions from this pivotal event in history still have roots in places decades later and can poison a community. Season 2 continues to explore these tensions as they once again boil over into violence and mistrust. The show is loosely based on a real-life pair of murders in the town of Nottinghamshire in 2004.

Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry have previously played Cross in movies, but this time it is Aldis Hodge taking over the role as the brilliant forensic expert and detective who attempts to get into the minds of serial killers.

The dark Irish comedy Bad Sisters was an overlooked gem when it arrived on Apple TV+ in 2022. The series feels almost like a more comedic version of Big Little Lies as it follows four adult sisters who have been incredibly close since the deaths of their parents. The first season was an intense and gripping crime story that was mixed with a lot of humor as these flawed by likable characters struggle to pull off the perfect crime. Bad Sisters season 2 continues to cement that the crime was not so perfect. The sisters continue to clean up after themselves, and the police and other interesting parties begin to grow suspicious. The first two episodes of season 2 were made available on November 13, with a new episode added weekly on Wednesdays for the rest of the eight-episode season.
