Some of the most expensive foreign players in IPL auction each year

Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc has been the most expensive player in IPL history with 24.75 crore bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024 mega auction.

Sam Curran

The most expensive player in IPL history did not bode well for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2023. Curran did well with the bat, scoring 276 runs at a strike rate of 135.96 while averaging 27.60. However, his main skill let him and PBKS down. The left-arm pacer picked up just 10 wickets in 14 innings to end the 2023 season.

Andrew Flintoff

The most expensive buy in 2009 did not work for the Chennai Super Kings. Andrew Flintoff played just three matches in his short-lived CSK and IPL careers. The English all-rounder managed to score just 62 runs and take 2 wickets.

Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins was picked for a whopping 15.25 crore in 2020. He has played in 6 editions of the tournament, and he has taken 45 wickets in 42 matches. His batting in the IPL is perhaps the most surprising thing about the Australian skipper. The pace-bowling all-rounder strikes the ball at 152.21 and has scored the 3rd fastest 50 in the IPL.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell has had his share of highs and lows in the IPL. MI paid $1 million for the Aussie in 2013, and the aggressive batter did moderately well for them. Maxwell scored 83 runs at an average of 20.75; however, he struck the ball at 172.91.
