MySims Kingdom: Every Island, Ranked From Worst To Best

MySims Kingdom is finally making its way onto the Nintendo Switch as part of MySims: Cozy Bundle. 16 years after its initial release on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, the new port will allow plenty of eager players to pick up their wands and return to the many islands of King Roland’s Kingdom. While not every island is as pleasant as veterans might remember, some are even better.

There are ten explorable islands in the Kingdom, not including Capital Island, which is the home of King Roland, nor the Reward Island, where the player can spend credits at the end of the game. Each one has unique themes and characters that all need your help as the Royal Wandolier, but not every island is worth the trouble it requires to complete it.

10 Uncharted Isle

An Island Stuck In Time

Uncharted Isle is perhaps the smallest and shortest island in MySims Kingdom, which is surprising given that it is accessed later in the game. Upon first arriving, players meet Sir Vincent Skullfinder, a fellow explorer looking for unique discoveries to take to his museum. He’s meant to be a bit shady from the initial greeting, with Buddy mentioning it outright, but before you have too much time to dwell on it, you’re attacked by the local caveman, Gonk.

How many more Sims 4 packs do you think it will take for the game to break completely?

I’ve played every iteration of The Sims over the years, and while I loved The Sims 4 when it first came out, I’ve given up hope on it. The engine is old, and it’s too hard to update it, which made Project Renee’s cancelation even more gutting. With every additional release, the game breaks. The Sims 4 has released more add-ons than any previous title, and I’m honestly astonished that it can even run with so many expansions, packs, kits, etc. Frankly, I can understand why my sims have so many routing issues and problems queuing more than one interaction.

After getting to know Gonk and working out the misunderstanding of him attacking Buddy, you help him fix up a place for him and Sylvia, his girlfriend. Not long after, it’s revealed that Sir Vincent has trapped Sylvia and Bobaboo, a small triceratops, whom he intends to take back with him to his museum. After distracting him and freeing them, the island concludes with a simple scolding that doesn’t do much. All in all, the island is short and rather forgettable with no stand-out residents.

9 Trevor Island

A One-Man-Show

Trevor Island is one of a few islands that might have had potential because of its larger scale and somewhat interesting tasks but is brought down severely by the pure annoying factor of being forced to chase Trevor around the island as a monster. The entire core theme of Trevor Island is that you are there to help Trevor put on a play from the “Trevorverse” by fixing sets and even starring as his co-star for some scenes. Unfortunately, some of those scenes involve you chasing Trevor around the island.

Who Needs The Sims On Switch When You’ve Got The Best Sims Game On DS

While players wait for The Sims to eventually come to the Nintendo Switch, they should check out the perfect Sims game on the Nintendo DS.

It sounds simple in theory, but the only problem is that Trevor runs when you’re within a certain range of him and not on a set track. This means that instead of just chasing Trevor to another location, it takes what feels like an eternity trying to get him unstuck from behind hedges, the corners of the map, and more obstructions. This alone is so frustrating that it’s nearly impossible not to hate Trevor, and his entire island, by the end of it.

8 Renee’s Nature Preserve

A Simple, Animal-Friendly Island

Renee’s Nature Preserve is one of the first islands in this MySims spin-off game, and it’s pretty obvious based on how simplistic it is. The island itself consists of Renee and her nature reserve, which she needs help to finish constructing. You perform a couple of normal tasks for her, including fixing up some features like the nature walk and even helping reunite a bear cub with its mother. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more to it than that.

Sims 4 Life & Death Continues The Best & Worst Sims Trend

The Sims 4’s latest expansion, Life & Death, continues its streak of excellent supernatural content while making its worst feature even more apparent.

It’s possible to somewhat overlook how simple the island is since its main intention appears to be teaching players how to perform basic tasks on future islands, but compared to another early game island, Cowboy Junction, this one is sub-par at best. Most of what you do here is pretty forgettable, as is Renee, and you definitely won’t leave the island eager to return to it. However, at least the animals here are cute.

7 Forest Of The Elves

An Island Home To Fantasy Creatures

This island is not too different from Renee’s Nature Preserve on the surface, but it shows how that island could’ve been better. The Forest of the Elves is home to Leaf and Petal, who are looking for a way to bring back the creatures of their island. You start by helping Hopper, a frog boy, come back to his senses after convincing him to drink a concoction you’ve prepared for him. Once he’s back to normal, you follow up by helping his normal frog friends also turn back to normal by guiding them to the pond.

Create-A-Sim Mode In The Sims 4 Would Be Better With This Feature

The Sims 4’s Create-A-Sim system features an extensive variety of options, but one in particular is still lagging far behind most of the rest.

From there, the difference between this island and Renee’s starts to appear, as the player then reconstructs a temple and listens to Leaf put on a crazy guitar performance which is enough to bring back the island’s unique creature, the unicorn. Seeing the unicorn slowly trot in and join all the animals dancing to a sick guitar solo is both hilarious and memorable. So, while this is still a fairly simple island overall, the characters bring a special quality to it that can linger long after departure.

6 Rocket Reef

Mad Scientists, Astronauts, & Robots, Oh My!

Rocket Reef is one of the more tedious islands in the MySims Kingdom. Although the island itself isn’t massive, the work required here is pretty involved and lengthy. Overall, the goal on this island is to help prepare the astronaut, Vic, for his journey on the rocket. Unfortunately, Vic is not trained, the lab is destroyed, and the rocket isn’t built. So you’ll need to fix all these things to get Vic on that rocket and complete the island.

Why Keeping The Sims 4 Alive Is A Better Idea Than The Sims 5

After a decade, it looks like The Sims 4 will continue as the primary entry for the series instead of moving to The Sims 5, but that’s for the best.

This is already a lot to accomplish, but there’s also T.O.B.O.R. the robot that needs your help finding all the parts of his body. Once you find those, he charmingly tells you he would like to utilize your MySims building skills to design a Diner for the island. Although not all the characters are very likable, T.O.B.O.R. and the involved design aspects of the island make up for it. Plus, Vic provides the Figurine collecting quest, which is a fun completionist task for those interested.

5 Candypalooza

A Literal Crab Rave

Candypalooza is a very small island, but at its core, it’s just fun. The whole island is themed around a music festival that’s going to be taking place starring DJ Candy. To help prepare, you need to assist Zack and Sapphire with getting the island ready by fixing the stage and building a house. Fixing the stage is pretty straightforward, but it is a way to express some unique creativity since it’s unlike anything on any other island.

Going Back To The Sims 2 Showed Me Everything Wrong With The Sims 4

I tried The Sims 2 again after mostly playing The Sims 4, and it made me realize that it’s not just nostalgia talking when I say that it’s better.

Furthermore, building and designing the house with Sapphire is about as back-to-basics as you could get with Sims, and it’s not a bad thing. Constructing and designing every room reminds you that this is a spin-off of the original Sims series and that it still holds those core design features that make The Sims great. The island wraps with you stopping a crab rampage at the rave, which is hilarious, and jamming out to DJ Candy’s music, which is arguably pretty good.

4 Cutopia

The Story of Cute Romeo & Alternative Juliet

Cutopia is a bit of a divisive island among fans, but there’s no arguing that it’s entertaining. Upon arriving at Cutopia, you meet Duchess Beverly and her son, Lord Daniel, who are discussing Cutopia’s upcoming Awareness Day Festival to honor the traditions of Cutopia, being cute. Despite that the surface layer of this island is fairly shallow, it does feature a somewhat heart-warming reverse “Sk8er Boi” romance between the cute Lord Daniel and the island’s alternative girl, Violet.

Sims 4 Survey Proves EA Really Does Know What Players Want For The Future After All

EA hosted a survey to gauge player interest in certain Expansion Pack concepts, and it seems like the company knows what players are hoping for.

While festival preparation comes into play, most of the time on the island is spent helping Daniel woo Violet and then saving her when his mother traps her in a tower to keep them apart. You wrap up the island by saving Violet and confronting Duchess Beverly for her heinous behavior, who apologizes and says it was for the good of her son since Violet is, well, not cute. For some reason, everyone forgives her pretty easily, which knocks off a few points for this island, but it’s still a fun story to be a part of.

3 The Royal Academy

Teen Romance Island

The Island of Royal Academy is like something ripped straight from a teen romance that perfectly fits The Sims. When you arrive at the island, you meet with the head of the school, Rosalyn, who is getting ready for the school’s big dance. After helping her fix up the classroom in the school, you get the chance to talk to the students, which include Summer, Liberty, Travis, and Chaz. Naturally, all the stereotypical teen movie archetypes are here, including a cheerleader, a nerd, a jock, and a class clown.

One Sims 4 Life State Is Still Incredibly Shallow, But There’s A Fix Thanks To A Player

The Sims 4 has a lot of content, but not all of it has the level of depth it should. Luckily, the modding community steps in to help add to the game.

While helping them fix up their dorms, you find out some romantic feelings are circling the group, but unfortunately, Summer and Liberty are both into the same guy, Travis. This leaves it up to you to find out what Travis’ feelings are on the matter and when that fails, he ultimately falls to you to decide for him. This is one of the only influencing decisions you get to make in MySims Kingdom, bringing the whole island up purely for that reason, but the story itself is still pretty enjoyable despite being cliché.

2 Cowboy Junction

A Rootin’ Tootin’ Pizza Thief

Cowboy Junction is one of the first islands to become accessible, alongside Renee’s Nature Preserve, and it’s one of the best in the entire game. When you arrive, you meet Sheriff Ginny, who is in charge of protecting the island, but she’s pretty bored considering there isn’t any crime. While exploring, you’re also introduced to Chef Gino, Gabby, and Roxie. Already, this island has a large collection of characters with a variety of tasks, but they’re all mainly centered around helping Chef Gino.

Sims 4 Players Share The Secret Collections You Didn’t Know Existed

The Sims 4 already has plenty of Collections to complete but now the community is sharing their top suggestions for some unofficial Collections.

While learning about the pizza-making process, you’ll have to repair items and help those who provide ingredients. Unfortunately, even after finishing, you’ll meet the island’s last character, a thief. After nabbing your pizza, the thief leads the player and Sheriff Ginny on a chase around the island before ultimately being captured and reformed. None of the tasks are hard, but the island is charming and the large group of characters makes for a fun little Western-style entertainment.

1 Spookane

Goth Boy & Grandma Ruthies’ Cookies

Spookane is undoubtedly a fan-favorite among MySims fans and for good reason. After arriving at the island, you meet Goth Boy, who is hilariously literally named Goth Boy. Unfortunately, he’s too depressed to converse, so after some convincing, the two of you continue on a journey to retrieve an ancient book from Morcubus, the island’s dracula-esque villain. Along the way are characters like Yuki, a vampire-like face-biter, and the more notable Grandma Ruthie and Zombie Carl.

10 Games Like The Sims On Nintendo Switch

The Sims 4 might not be available on Nintendo Switch, but there are plenty of good alternatives for fans of life simulation and other Sims staples.

Zombie Carl is a zombie just looking for some enjoyment in his post-life state, which you provide by building him a neat little space in exchange for a key to Morcubus’ castle. Grandma Ruthie, however, is the best character in this whole game. She begins as a sweet cookie shop owner who lets you convert her entire life to the goth aesthetic to appeal to the island residents. You wrap up the island by breaking into Mocubus’ castle and longing for more time with these MySims Kingdom characters.
