Estado de clasificación del equipo de críquet femenino de la India para la Copa Mundial Femenina T20 2024

Sólo hay una diferencia de 0,40 entre India y Nueva Zelanda (2º y 3º) en la tabla de puntos del grupo A.

The Indian women’s cricket team still has a chance to qualify for the semifinals at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Despite losing to Alyssa Healy-less Australia at Sharjah, Harmanpreet Kaur’s Team India remains in contention to move to the knockout stage. It may sound funny, but it’s good that India lost to the defending champions by 9 wickets. I say that because, to stay in second place on the points table, India needed to score at least 139 runs. They went on to score three more runs (142), which means their net run rate (NRR) remains superior to that of New Zealand women’s.

However, one mustn’t forget that India no longer has their fate in their hands. The last group A match, Pakistan vs New Zealand, will decide who joins Australia as the second semifinalists. Right now, all three teams are in contention to make the cut.

Women’s T20 World Cup Points Table – Group A

Team Played Won Lost Points NRR
Australia (Q) 4 4 0 8 2.223
India 4 2 2 4 0.322
New Zealand 3 2 1 4 0.282
Pakistan 3 1 2 2 -0.488
Sri Lanka (E) 4 0 4 0 -2.173

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: India’s semifinal qualification scenario

  • The match doesn’t end in ‘no result’
  • New Zealand don’t win
  • Pakistan win by less than 47 runs or with less than 55 balls to spare

There is just one scenario by which Team India can qualify for the semifinals. That is if Pakistan beats New Zealand. However, there is an issue there as well. You see, Pakistan have an outside chance as well. Because they beat Sri Lanka, the Fatima Sana-led side can make the semifinals if they beat the Kiwis by somewhere between 47 and 60 runs if they bat first. If Pakistan chases, they must win the match in 10.3 or 10.4 overs to qualify. If New Zealand wins or the match ends as a ‘no result’, India will be knocked out of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
