Paul Walker debuted as Brian in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, appearing in six films until his tragic death in 2013. Like every character in the franchise, he takes the wheel of multiple engines, all meaning something to him. Unlike Dominic Toretto, who prefers American muscle cars, Brian always chose imports in the various Fast and Furious movies.

He and Dom used to bicker about the two kinds of vehicles, which became a running joke in the series. Brian went on to become one of the most talented drivers of the bunch and never backed down when it came to going toe-to-toe with Dom. Over Brian’s history in the Fast & Furious movies, the character has gotten behind the wheel of some pretty wild rides. After Johnny and Lance destroyed his Mitsubishi Eclipse, he needed a vehicle to repay Dom (he owed Dom a ten-second card). Brian found a rusted Supra in a junkyard. This car is a bright orange 1994 Toyota Supra Mark IV. Dom’s crew helps fix it up, and Brian uses it in key moments for the rest of The Fast and the Furious.

Brian first acquired the Nissan Skyline in The Turbo Charged Prelude set before 2 Fast 2 Furious. This film is a six-minute short film that connects the two movies. In the short, he leaves Los Angeles before the LAPD can arrest him and while a national manhunt begins, Brian wins street races to earn money. After he ditches his Supra when the FBI closes in, he ends up needing a new car.

He buys this teal Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 from a dealership before customizing it to his liking. He then modifies it and heads to Miami, winning more races along the way. When 2 Fast 2 Furious starts, he races the car in an event Tej hosts. He loses it quickly after it ends up impounded when a U.S. Customs agent detains Brian. Even when he agrees to work with the law enforcement agencies, he has to find a new car.

After the destruction of Brian’s Skyline, which he had gotten from the impound lot earlier in Fast & Furious, Dom found him a replacement car in the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI hatchback. They picked out the car from another police impound lot, and Brian uses it for the rest of the film. Meanwhile, the joke of Dom and Brian disagreeing on muscle cars and imports continues as Dom drives his rebuilt 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.

Brian uses the new Subaru to drive to Mexico in search of Arturo Braga (John Ortiz), an infamous drug lord. He is also the man who supposedly killed Letty, who was working undercover to help clear Dom’s criminal record. After apprehending him, Dom and Brian try to deliver Braga back to the U.S. However, Brian totals the Impreza when finally stopping Braga, which is the fate of most, if not all of Brian’s cars.

Of all of Brian’s cars, he rarely drove muscle cars, but it was deemed necessary in Fast Five during the vault heist. He and Dom each drove reinforced matte black Dodge Charger SRT-8 vehicles to pull the giant vault out of the Brazilian police station. The 2010 Dodge Charger SRT-8 is a four-door model car, and it is the only time in the franchise that Dom and Brian drive the exact same model car.

The Chargers were modified police cars that Brian and Dom stole. They hooked up the vault loaded with money and pulled it out of the police station using the strength of the two cars. This was a rare case where Brian ended up with his car intact as Dom cut Brian loose, and he stayed behind to stop the pursuing police. Dom’s car ended up totaled, while Brian returned and picked Dom up to leave at the end of the movie.

As part of Ramsey’s rescue attempt of Ramsey from Mose Jakanda in Furious 7, Dom, Brian, and the rest of the crew had to drive out of the back of a C-130 plane and parachute their cars to intercept the armored transport. Brian used a blue Subaru Impreza during the stunt scene. This car was a 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX STi GH. It had a blue paint scheme, with a silver secondary area split by a black strip.

Sadly, the car sustained damage from the armored transport’s turrets while rescuing Ramsey, and Brian had to abandon the car after its destruction. However, Brian makes use of the destroyed car by using it as a launching point to gain access to the armored transport. The movie ends with Brian riding off and leaving following Paul Walker’s death. He rode off in a 1995 Toyota Supra Mk.IV JZA80, paying homage to the first movie’s car.

Though Brian didn’t directly appear in F9, his existence in The Fast Saga was still confirmed with the appearance of the character’s blue 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34. At the end of the movie, Mia informs Dom that the last guest will be arriving at dinner shortly. Viewers then see a blue Nissan speeding into the driveway of the Toretto home.

Brian didn’t have a new car in the latest franchise entry, but Brian did have a presence in Fast X. Since Paul Walker’s tragic death, the Fast and Furious franchise has kept Brian off-screen by suggesting he has given up his dangerous life of crime and espionage to raise his family with Mia. This trend continues in Fast X, along with a brief return for Brian in a flashback sequence. Fast X opens with Dante Reyes’s origins, which go back to Fast Five. Brian is shown working alongside Dom to steal the vault containing Dante’s father’s fortune.

Though it is a brief flashback, it is a reminder that Brian was an integral part of this mission, and it is unlikely that Dante would overlook that fact. It is revealed that Brian and Mia are safe during the events of this movie as they go into hiding when Dante begins targeting the team. However, it is unclear how safe they will be as Dante’s revenge mission continues in Fast 11.

It has been promised Brian will be featured in the Fast and Furious franchise before it concludes. It is unclear in what capacity that will happen, but it seems likely it will involve him coming out of hiding.
