The origins of the Town, From‘s monsters, the Boy in White, and the bottle trees are among the numerous mysteries at the heart of the science-fiction horror series. This has naturally generated a great deal of speculation and fascinating theories that tie many of the storylines together and answer From‘s most pressing questions.


Some of these theories focus on specific individuals in From‘s cast of characters, including Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade Herrera (David Alpay), while others focus more generally on the true nature of the Town and its supernatural forces. Both aspects are equally important to why From has become increasingly popular. Meanwhile, Dale (Cliff Saunders) did not have any addresses on him when he went through the faraway tree, which could be why he was killed. The numbers being addresses seems more likely than them being dates. However, numbers by themselves are not enough to get someone to the right address. It is also important to remember that other characters, including Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy) in season 1, survived going through a faraway tree without carrying an address with them.

There are many clues that the ghost lady died from drowning and the most probable place for a person to drown in the Town is the lake. She has also told Elgin that she can help save him and his friends. The theory suggests that the woman’s real corpse is in the lake and that she is holding a Talisman more powerful than the Talismans that the residents currently possess.

In the first episode, Ethan Matthews (Simon Webster) refers to the Lake of Tears, which is the name of a book where a powerful stone that can defeat evil is in a lake. A more powerful Talisman within the Town’s lake could do more than protect the residents inside their homes at night and could be the key to finding a way out of Town. This is a tantalizing theory, but it may be tying together too many story threads at once, and may overly rely on details from The Lake of Tears book in the Deltora Quest series.


6 The Boy In White Was A Former “Anghkooey” Kid

The Boy in White has been one of From‘s biggest mysteries since season 1, but this Reddit theory argues that the truth about him is connected to Miranda and the children who say, “Anghkooey.” The premise is that Miranda was partially successful in her quest to save the trapped children, with the Boy in White being one of the children she successfully saved. This could explain why the Boy in White has always been seemingly friendly and helpful to Victor, as Victor’s mother was the one who saved him.

Such an idea does do an effective job of addressing Victor’s longtime survival. The part that is more difficult to buy into is the monsters or the Town continuing to honor this agreement long after Miranda died and when there would be no repercussions for breaking the promise.


4 Henry Is From’s Overarching Villain

While Victor’s father, Henry (Robert Joy), seems like a kind man, this Reddit theory proposes that Henry is From‘s real villain. The argument is that Henry is an evil entity who was somehow cast out of the Town and has been trying to find his way back in. The Boy in White may be in league with the entity that is Henry, which is why the Boy in White pushed Tabitha out of the lighthouse, as he was sending her to unknowingly fetch Henry and bring him back to the Town.
