Diego Luna Is Cassian Andor

Date of Birth: December 29, 1979

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Diego Luna is best known to TV watchers as Miguel in Narcos: Mexico, and the voice of Krel in the Tales of Arcadia series. Beyond Rogue One, where Cassian Andor was first introduced, movies he’s known for include Elysium, Milk, The Terminal, The Book of Life, and If Beale Street Could Talk, among others. Luna also serves as an executive producer on Andor, alongside showrunner Tony Gilroy.

Character: In Andor, Diego Luna returns as the titular character, Cassian Andor. Cassian lives on the rough-and-tumble planet of Ferrix, and is known as a scoundrel to the town: a wastrel, a swindler, and a guy who doesn’t always make the best decisions. When he is involved in a crime one night, Luna’s Cassian Andor gets on the Empire’s radar. But someone is soon to offer him a chance to do something more with his life.

Stellan Skarsgård Is Luthen Rael

Date of Birth: June 13, 1951

Veteran character actor Stellan Skarsgård, born in Gothenburg, Sweden, is well-known to geek culture lovers from his recurring role as Dr. Erik Selvig in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s also beloved for his turns in, among other things, Dune, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Angels & Demons, Mamma Mia!, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Good Will Hunting, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, and so many more. Skarsgård’s performance in Andor season 1 has been one of the show’s most highly praised thus far, particularly for his iconic monologue in episode 10, “One Way Out.”

Character: On the surface, the wily Luthen Rael acts as a collector and something of a black market dealer. His real aim, however, is to quietly build the seeds of rebellion. His meeting with Cassian Andor has changed both their lives, and potentially the fate of the galaxy itself.

Kyle Soller Is Syril Karn

Date of Birth: July 1, 1983

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Kyle Soller is an actor who got his start on the stage, and has since accrued various roles on both the small and big screens. In TV, Soller is best-known for his work in You, Me and the Apocalypse, as well as for playing Francis Poldark in Poldark. Some of his movies include Fury, The Fifth Estate, and the 2012 adaptation of Anna Karenina.

Character: Syril Karn is a major antagonist in Andor. As a young and ambitious Imperial officer, he is uptight and zealous in his duty. He develops something like an obsession with Cassian Andor, determined to catch him for his crime, but it’s not clear he’s up to the task.

Genevieve O’Reilly Is Mon Mothma

Date of Birth: January 6, 1977

Genevieve O’Reilly, born in Dublin, Ireland, has previously appeared as Mon Mothma in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Ahsoka, and voiced her character in Star Wars Rebels. In other movies, one can spot her in The Kid Who Would Be King, Tolkien, and The Legend of Tarzan. TV series include Episodes, Glitch, and Tin Star. Some may be surprised to learn she also voices the character of Moira in the video game Overwatch.

Character: At this point in the Star Wars timeline, Mon Mothma is in a very dangerous and difficult position. As a savvy politician in the Imperial Senate, Mon Mothma is also one of the most important architects of what will become the Rebellion. Along with Luthen Rael, she plays a key role in helping to turn the tide against the Imperial regime.

Adria Arjona Is Bix Caleen

Date of Birth: April 25, 1992

Born in Puerto Rico, Adria Arjona is a rising star in Hollywood, with a number of big movies already under her belt. Her filmography includes Morbius, 6 Underground, Pacific Rim: Uprising, The Belko Experiment, Triple Frontier, Hit Man, and Blink Twice. Audiences will also recognize her from her work in True Detective, the short-lived Emerald City, and Good Omens.

Character: Bix Caleen is a longtime ally, and ex-lover, of Andor’s, and one of the few friends who hasn’t given up on him. She has a shop selling starship parts, but also has a foot in the shadowy underworld of smuggling. As the story unfolds, she finds herself pulled into the same rebellion as Cassian.

Fiona Shaw Is Maarva Andor

Date of Birth: July 10, 1958

Fiona Shaw, born in County Cork, Ireland, is one of the UK’s most beloved actresses. She’s best known to audiences for her longtime role as Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter franchise, as well as for playing Marnie Stonebrook in True Blood and Carolyn Martens in Killing Eve. She also can be spotted in Channel Zero, Enola Holmes, The Tree of Life, and more.

Character: Maarva is a wily ship raider who adopted Cassian when he was young and taught him all she knows. While she doesn’t condone Cassian’s shadier activities, she loves him dearly. As a former leader of Star Wars‘ proto-Rebellion, Maarva has become part of the new uprising as her son gets drawn into events, despite her declining health.

Forest Whitaker Is Saw Gerrera

Date of Birth: July 15, 1961

Born in Longview, Texas, Forest Whitaker is a veteran name in Hollywood, having won an Oscar for his turn as Idi Amin in 2006’s The Last King of Scotland. Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera is known to Star Wars audiences, having first appeared in Rogue One before later voicing his character in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Other movies in his resume include The Color of Money, Good Morning, Vietnam, and Black Panther. On the TV side of things, Whitaker has had major roles in Godfather of Harlem, Empire, The Shield, and the Criminal Minds franchise.

Character: Saw Gerrera returns to Star Wars once again in Andor to help Luthen Rael and Mon Mothma build the Rebellion. His extreme methods, however, create a rift between the early cells of the Rebellion. This poses some major problems for the blooming Rebellion effort.

Denise Gough Is Dedra Meero

Date of Birth: February 28, 1980

Denise Gough, born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, is an actor who continues to gain prevalance on the stage, small screen, and the big screen. Gough has become a very prolific actor ever since her debut in 2004, having appeared in movies such as Robin Hood, The Good Traitor, The Other Lamb, and Martyrs Lane. Her biggest TV role arrived in the miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, in which she plays Dianna Lafferty, though she has also appeared in shows such as Titanic: Blood and Steel and Who Is Erin Carter?

Character: Dedra Meero is an ambitious, on-the-rise supervisor in the ISB (Imperial Security Bureau) who isn’t afraid to challenge her peers in the name of what she knows is right. Dedra catches on to a pattern of stolen Imperial property that she accredits to a fledgling rebellion. Eventually, her observations lead her to Andor, weaving her directly into Cassian’s story.

Alan Tudyk Is K-2SO

Date of Birth: March 16, 1971

Alan Tudyk, born in El Paso, Texas, first portrayed K-2SO in Rogue One, and will return to play the character again in the upcoming Andor season 2. Tudyk is an extremely prolific actor, particularly when it comes to voice acting, and has been a part of iconic Disney movies such as Zootopia, Moana, Frozen, and Encanto. In the TV realm, Tudyk has played a major role in shows such as Firefly, Good Vibes, Suburgatory, American Dad!, and Resident Alien.

Character: K-2SO is the droid sidekick of Cassian at the time of Rogue One. His role in Andor is expected to explain how he came to be such a close ally of Cassian’s, though details still remain limited. K-2SO will have the chance to flourish even more as an already-beloved Star Wars character.

Ben Mendelsohn Is Director Orson Krennic

Date of Birth: April 3, 1969

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Ben Mendelsohn is also a returning Star Wars star, having first portrayed Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One. Mendelsohn is certainly no stranger to franchises like Star Wars, as he has also appeared in Marvel’s Captain Marvel and Secret Invasion as Talos, and The Dark Knight Rises as Daggett. Though Mendelsohn is mostly known for this prolific and impressive movie career, he has also appeared in TV shows such as Love My Way, Bloodline, and most recently as Christian Dior in The New Look.

Character: Director Krennic is an ambitious Imperial officer who’s been overseeing the Death Star’s construction, also known as Project Stardust, ever since its inception. As Andor season 2 builds up to the events of Rogue One, Krennic will likely be seen hammering down on the Death Star’s progress, and perhaps even getting involved in the fight against rebels like Cassian. Krennic doesn’t back down until he gets what he wants, which makes his role in this story a brilliantly dangerous one.

Just as brilliant as the main cast of Andor is its supporting cast, an array of talented actors who truly bring this world to life. From the rebels on Aldhani to the prisoners on Narkina-5, these actors totally and completely sell the tension of every single moment they’re in.
