An early wicket of Sarthak Ray fell in the 3rd over, and then SDS captain Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya put up a 286-run stand. You heard it right. They scored nearly 300 runs together in a T20 match.

Highest score by an Indian batter in T20s

Badoni hit 165 off 55. Three runs a ball. He hit a six every three balls. His inning consisted of 27 boundaries, 19 of which were sixes. That means he hit 114 runs in sixes alone. This is an Indian record. The previous highest individual score by an Indian batter was Shreyas Iyer, who hit 147 in the same number of balls in 2019. Well, that record is no more.

Ayush Badoni & Priyansh Arya’s record breaking spree

This wasn’t the only record. Badoni’s partner, Priyansh Arya, hit six 6s in an over to Manan Bhardwaj in the 12th over of the match. He too hit a century. But it was a slow one. He hit just 120 runs in 50 balls. At a poor strike rate of 240.

The second wicket, that of Badoni, fell on 299. A couple of balls later, another record was created. The South Delhi Superstarz became the first Indian team to score 300 runs in a match. They finished at 308, just 7 runs short of the all-time record of the highest scored in a T20 match.
