San Diego Comic-Con 2024 will take place between July 25-28 and will feature many of its best panels and attractions in the historic Hall H. Per Comic-con’s official website, “Comic-Con is the premier event for all things comics and related popular art, including movies, television, gaming, interactive multimedia, and so much more! Enjoy cosplay galore and take part in unique programming, exclusive previews, and presentations, not to mention the expansive and diverse Exhibit Hall featuring merchandise and displays representing all fandoms.” For the first time since 2019, SDCC will not feature a virtual event.


Hall H will be the home of many of the most exciting announcements of the entire weekend, most of which will be happening on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. Some of the most highly anticipated panels in Hall H include “Transformers One” and “Deadpool & Wolverine” on Thursday, “The Boys” and “Alien: Romulus” on Friday, and “Star Trek”, “The Penguin”, and “Marvel Studios” on Saturday. As of the time of writing, there are no Hall H panels for Sunday, July 28, 2024, the last day of SDCC. As is tradition, Hall H will be the place that features the biggest names, shows, and personnel.

With Marvel Studios reportedly set to appear at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, there are a few movie announcements and new details that I hope we’ll get.


Hall H Panels On Thursday, July 25


“Transformers One” – 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM: Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment will host a panel discussion and reveal exclusive footage of the upcoming Transformers animated film. The panel will feature appearances by Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, Academy Award-winning director Josh Cooley, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

Celebrating 25 Years of “SpongeBob Squarepants” – 1 PM – 2 PM: Nickelodeon is celebrating the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants”’, which will be hosted by Kel Mitchell (Good Burger, Kenan & Kel). The panel will offer a special look at its iconic origins, including a live cast table read of “Help Wanted,” exclusive content, and the nautical nonsense to come. Voice cast members that will be in attendance include Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), along with executive producers Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller, and special guests.


“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” – 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM: The Disney+ original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians will make its debut at Comic-Con with a panel that includes Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood), and Jonathan E. Steinberg (co-creator, executive producer) and Dan Shotz (executive producer). The panel will reflect on the success of the first season, discuss bringing the characters to life, and answer questions during an exclusive fan Q&A session.

“What We Do in the Shadows” Farewell Kickoff – 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Per Comic-con’s official website: “You are summoned to join America’s favorite vampire roommates as they kick off their farewell tour at Comic-Con! Join the cast and producers for a high-spirited conversation, and be among the first to see a brand-new episode from the sixth and final season. The first five seasons of the hit FX award-winning comedy are available to stream on Hulu.”


Marvel Studios: The Ultimate “Deadpool & Wolverine” Celebration of Life – 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: In what is certainly one of the most anticipated panels of SDCC 2024, the “Deadpool & Wolverine” panel will be held in Hall H on Thursday night before the worldwide release of the new Marvel film. It will be one of two Marvel panels at SDCC. Attendance was based on an online lottery, which is now closed.

Hall H Panels On Friday, July 26


“The Boys” – 10 AM – 11 AM: Showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke will join the stars of The Boys for a post-season finale celebration. Attendees will be able to hear from the cast and creator about the newly released fourth season as well as gain an inside scoop of behind-the-scenes secrets, favorite moments, and thrilling surprises. The celebrated series will be making its Hall H debut at SDCC 2024.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” – 11 AM – 12:15 PM: Per Comic-Con’s official website: “Join the series’ showrunners and cast as they give an inside look into the highly anticipated second season, premiering August 29, 2024 on Prime Video. Get ready to experience stunning visuals, thrilling surprises, and unique insight into the darkness that has returned to threaten all of Middle-earth this season.”


Into the Whoniverse: A “Doctor Who” Panel – 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Per Comic-Con’s official website: “Hop aboard the TARDIS with “Doctor Who” stars Ncuti Gatwa (Fifteenth Doctor) and Millie Gibson (Ruby Sunday), along with showrunner and writer Russell T Davies as they discuss the latest season and its game-changing finale episode, which aired on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer. The trio will also share behind-the-scenes stories, fan surprises, and a special sneak peek. Moderated by Josh Horowitz (host, Happy Sad Confused podcast and MTV).”

“The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 2– 1:45 PM – 2:45 PM: The cast and executive producers will discuss the upcoming second season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” on a panel moderated by Chris Hardwick. The event will feature the debut of an exclusive asset before the series returns next year. Panelists include Eli Jorné (showrunner and executive producer), Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead Universe chief content officer and executive producer), Lauren Cohan (executive producer, “Maggie”), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (executive producer, “Negan”), Gaius Charles (“Armstrong”), and Željko Ivanek (“The Croat”).


“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon —The Book of Carol” – 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM: The cast and executive producers will discuss the upcoming second season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—The Book of Carol” alongside the debut of the official trailer. This will also be moderated by Chris Hardwick. Panelists include David Zabel (showrunner and executive producer), Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead Universe chief content officer and executive producer), Greg Nicotero (executive producer and director), Norman Reedus (executive producer and “Daryl Dixon”), Melissa McBride (executive producer and “Carol Peletier”), and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (“Laurent”).


Collider’s Directors on Directing – 4 PM – 5 PM: Per Comic-Con’s official website: “Two of the most successful action directors working in film today join Collider’s editor-in-chief for a conversation about their business and their craft. Antoine Fuqua (“The Equalizer” trilogy, “Training Day,” “Olympus Has Fallen,” and the upcoming “Michael Jackson” biopic) and Roland Emmerich (“Those About to Die,” “Independence Day,” “Anonymous,” “White House Down”) discuss their work (past, present, and future), the challenges of production, and their dueling White House invasion movies with Steven Weintraub—and that’s not all.

20th Century Studios: “Alien: Romulus” – 5:15 – 6:15 PM: The panel will feature Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe,” “Evil Dead”) and star cast members Cailee Spaeny (“Civil War”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder Is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), and Aileen Wu. The panel will discuss the terrifying next installment from the Alien franchise.

“Superman & Lois” Special Video Presentation and Q&A – 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM: This panel will offer a final “first look” into the series and reveal a special video presentation followed by an exclusive Q&A with stars and producers who will be making their Comic-Con debut.

The “Star Trek” Universe – 1:45 PM – 3:15 PM: The fan-favorite Star Trek universe panel will feature exclusive back-to-back conversations with cast and producers from “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” and “Star Trek: Section 31,” plus plenty of new reveals and exciting surprises. Moderated by award-winning filmmaker, director, and executive producer Justin Simien, and will feature many cast appearances.


“The Penguin” Panel – 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM: Per Comic-Con’s official website: “The HBO Original limited series, from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, continues Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” epic crime saga and centers on the character played by Colin Farrell in the film. The series debuts on HBO in September. A Panel with Kevin Smith – 7:30 – 9 PM: Per Comic-Con’s official website​​​​​​​: “Kevin Smith wants to use his mouth on you at Comic-Con! As “Clerks” celebrates its 30th anniversary, the writer/director and pop culture loudmouth returns to Hall H with an exclusive sneak peek at his newest flick, “The 4:30 Movie”! Once he’s done hawking his wares, get ready to have your Q’s elaborately A’d by a guy who loves the sound of his own voice! Attendees can also expect to get some inside dirt on the next “Jay & Silent Bob” movie, “That 90’s Show,” Smodcastle Cinemas, Secret Stash Press, and Chronic Con—the inaugural IRL convention this fall that’s devoted to all things Askew!
