Israel kills 19, including 6 children, in new Gaza

At least 19 Palestinians, including six innocent children, have been killed after Israel carried out new attacks in violation of the ceasefire in Gaza. According to medical sources, the attacks took place early in the morning in Gaza City and Khan Younis. These strikes happened just one day before the announced reopening of the Rafah border crossing on Sunday, which is set to open for the first time since May 2024. However, Israel is still blocking the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
In western Khan Younis, heavy smoke and fire were seen rising after an Israeli air strike hit a shelter where displaced Palestinians were staying. Intense bombardment was also reported in central and northern Gaza, where residential buildings and tents were targeted. In one attack, a woman and her children were killed while they were asleep. In another drone strike, a man was killed along with his children and grandchildren.
In Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan area, at least seven people were killed when Israeli forces bombed a police headquarters. The victims were taken to al-Shifa Hospital. In southern Gaza’s al-Mawasi area, air strikes hit tents that were housing displaced families.
Hamas described these attacks as a clear violation of the ceasefire and said that targeting displaced civilians is a very dangerous escalation. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began. Since the war started in October 2023, the total number of Palestinian deaths has crossed 71,000.
Meanwhile, Israeli military operations are also continuing in the occupied West Bank. At least 13 Palestinians, including a young girl, were arrested during raids. Ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers have forced several Palestinian families to leave their homes.

Although the reopening of the Rafah crossing is being seen as a hopeful step, experts say that allowing only pedestrian movement is not enough. Gaza’s humanitarian crisis will continue unless fuel, medicines, and food are allowed to enter freely.
