Renee Good is among several individuals who have been killed during encounters with ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

On October 10, 2025, law enforcement officers enforced a curfew outside an ICE processing facility in Broadview, Illinois.

Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, is at least the fifth known person to have died during immigration enforcement operations since President Donald Trump returned to the White House nearly a year ago, according to the Associated Press.

CNN has reported on several of these deaths, including a man in Southern California who died in August after fleeing an immigration raid and running onto a freeway.

Last year, a California farmworker also died after falling from a greenhouse during an ICE raid. Similarly, according to the Department of Homeland Security, a man was fatally shot during a traffic stop after resisting arrest and attempting to drag an officer.

These fatalities have fueled tensions nationwide against Trump’s hardline immigration policies, and as CNN has reported, federal agents have come under increased scrutiny for using aggressive tactics during enforcement operations.

The Department of Homeland Security has praised officers, saying they “put their lives on the line every day to enforce the law,” and stated that the agency is being “smeared” by accusations that it is using “harsher approaches.”

DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin on Thursday praised the agent involved in Renee Good’s fatal shooting, calling him “a senior ICE officer who has served his country his entire life,” and cited violent threats faced by ICE agents.
