Two people have died in Sweden as a powerful winter storm wreaked havoc across the Nordic countries, causing travel disruption and widespread power outages.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issued a severe wind warning for vast areas of the northern half of the country as Storm Johan struck.
In the King’s Garden (Kungsberget) ski resort in southern Sweden, a man in his 50s was killed by a falling tree, as reported by local media and police. Meanwhile, the regional utility company Hemab said one of its employees was killed in an accident “in the field.”
