Will Not Use Force, but Says the United States

Davos (Switzerland):
US President Donald Trump has said that the United States will not use force to acquire Greenland, but warned that if an armed conflict were ever to occur, the US would be “unstoppable” against Europe.
In his lengthy address at the World Economic Forum (WEF), Trump made it clear that he is not in favor of military action and does not consider it necessary. He said:
“If we were to use force, we would be unstoppable, but I don’t want to do that. I will not use force.”
Trump’s recent remarks and his demand to acquire Greenland “the easy way or the hard way” have sparked global concern, with the Davos summit agenda partly overshadowed by his aggressive stance.
In Greenland, Trump’s statements are being closely watched. According to local officials, emergency civil defense measures are under consideration, including plans to increase food stockpiles. Although Trump ruled out the use of force, his comments failed to reassure the public, particularly raising questions over his apparent disregard for Danish sovereignty.

During his speech, Trump also warned that if Greenland rejected the US offer, “America will remember it.” He said:
“They have a choice. They can say yes, and we will be very appreciative, or they can say no, and we will remember.”
Alongside international issues, Trump addressed domestic policy matters. He defended the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), claiming his administration is reducing crime across several states and that Washington, DC is now safer than before. He also announced that undocumented immigrants are being cut off from government benefits and that funding would be withheld from cities he accused of harboring criminals.
Speaking on housing policy, Trump said, “Homes are built for people, not corporations,” and announced an executive order banning large institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes.
On global affairs, the US president said he would meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and claimed that both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin want to end the war. Trump once again blamed the conflict on the 2020 US presidential election, repeating his claim that the vote was rigged.
Concluding his speech, Trump said that “the United States is back, stronger and more powerful than ever,” and praised the world leaders present as pioneers on the global stage.
